Yeah I've heard that statistic, it was in some place where it made sense though, France I think? Either way yeah it's basically biologically true.
The reason being is women basically lost a lot of "ability" with sexual dimorphism, such as muscle mass, likely in favor reproduction (because of how complex humans are) while men picked up primary survival roles.
This gave men the rare ability to actually select women and so the two selective pressures conflicted. It gave women an incentive to keep male attention, leading to higher sex practices and selecting men based on their effectiveness at being providers.
But this newer instinct was sacrificing the older ones' penchant for picking the most physically attractive, aggressive male. So how did women resolve this? Get one male to take care of them, then at peak ovulation fuck another male. Then return to said provider male and continue fucking him. Chances are, the baby will be the other male. She got her desired genes, and her desired "father" at his expense.
This is why if you're a guy who's aware that he's fucking married women you'll notice they almost schizophrenically reject you after the fact and find yourself unable to actually convince them to leave their husbands who they all of a sudden love deeply again.
