Christ is the Philosopher-King, embodying and fulfilling Plato's prophecy and the dreams and thoughts of the Graeco-Roman philosophers. The power of the Crucifixion not just the conquest of death and the redemption of sins, but the abrogation of all of the old rites of our fathers in order to commune with God directly.

>Philosopher-King
Except he didn't rule over shit and his prophecy of doing so in his followers' lifetimes never came to pass (Matthew 24:34).

The saints aren't dead though.
This is basic Christian doctrine.
You made the classic mistake of trying to understand Christ's teaching by reading the bible alone, by yourself. Catechesis is normally necessary for people to understand scripture, because it's written that a veil of ignorance is over those who read scripture without the faith of Christ.

They are alive in Christ, right now, even some of those to whom who he the words recorded in this verse.
*Some* because Judas was never a saint.
These saints truly did never taste death, even in their martyrdom. Especially in that event, come to think of it.
