Even with all the money, industry and dumb potato niggers to throw at the South, the North was still losing, so they had to play the "Abolition" card as a last ditch effort to try to get the slaves to revolt from "behind enemy lines", which almost never actually happened, of course.
The best part is that no sooner had the "Freedom War in the name of Freedom" been ended, than another +100 years of Jim Crow, segregation, population fragmentation, and all-around civic disenfranchisement became the norm across the entire country. Now, blacks didn't even have the vale of a slave. They were worthless, quite literally.......but hey "dhey wuz "Free(tm)" doh, right?"
Meanwhile the capital of Old Dominion remained the same and the capital of the nation is still there too ;) Never mind the fact that anytime someone thinks of "American Culture" it's invariably Southern Culture. There is no "Yankee food or music" people seek out. No one cares what a "Midwesterner" is, or has to say about anything ever. All of California is fake and ghey and an international embarrassment.
The one, and only, redeeming and remotely interesting aspects of American are below the Mason-Dixon. Always, now, and forever more.
