this is the common practice of all ancient peoples though. you kill thier men and pregnant women and take thier young women as spoils. from romulus to germanics to dravidians to turks. you should instead ask why god made us all like this.

You should use a different image. God the Father doesn't possess matter, so although this meme is commonly used by people south of the Himalayas or modern atheists, it doesn't make sense. God the Father is only spirit.
That's why the interpretation of "God made man" or "God made X or Y"—imagining God literally "making" with hands, etc.—is heretical; God doesn't have arms or hands for that. If you want to seem less idiotic, at least use some kind of light or something like that

NTA but wouldn't light also be a material (though scientifically energy but nonetheless a worldly thing) manifestation of a purely spiritual being as well? It is no less a metaphor than a hand, though I guess light implies immateriality as a fundamental aspect even if it is still depictorial.

>Numbers 31:17-18
>what did this he mean by this
God commanded Israel to waste their enemies and they failed the call by keeping women and children alive. The women had caused Israel to sin, and the boys, had they been kept around, would have grown up to become Israel's enemies within their own tents, so Moses had to step in and caused defiled women and potential enemies to die. Young women were married to men and younger ones not yet ripe for men served as maids.

>why do christians listen to a jewish god telling them to do freak shit like this?
That's not God's commandment for a christian today; that was Moses commandment for Israel back then. Also it's notthing freakish, just hard life and the natural outcome of sin.

This wasn't a law, it was a commandment given to Israel for a very specific purpose. In any event, the whole point of Jesus was to bring salvation to the entire world and free jews from the bondage of the law (not the same as moral standards, though)

"In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. " (Hebrews 8:13)

"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. " (Romans 3:20)

"But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. " (Galatians 3:23-26)

Very impressive. Unfortunately the words of Jesus, which are higher than those of Paul, claim that the "bondage of the law" has not been abolished.
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Nope. Paul seaks with Jesus' authority: "Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. " (Acts 9:13-16)

And the law was fulfilled by Christ on the cross:

"That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. " (Romans 8:4)

"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. " (Romans 13:8)

"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. " (Galatians 5:14)

>Nope. Paul seaks with Jesus' authority
Then reconcile for us the contradiction between what Paul said and what Jesus said. They cannot both simultaneously be true because they contradict each other.
>19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

That was Jesus talking beore He fulfilled the law on the Cross, and after that happened, the law is no longer enforced and that's why Jesus called Paul to preach the cross and not the law.

Did "heaven and earth disappear" when Jesus was on the cross? The contradiction comes from the gospels being written decades after Paul's life and each author having different ends in mind.

Not really:

"Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. " (1 Corinthians 7:18-20)

"But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. " (Galatians 2:3-5)

"Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: " (Acts 15:24)

>and love their enemies until they change on their own instead?

It's called hyperbole. Always double check with other scripture: "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. " (Luke 16:17)

That wasn't about Jesus's take on circumcision, it was about his take on boys purposely becoming eunuchs as a cheatcode to heaven.
>For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
>for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

>For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb"
These are people who are born with certain conditions and never develop a sexual drive.

>"and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men"
Literally what it says. Captives having their balls cut off and turned into eunuchs.

>and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.
This is celibacy, as was the case with Paul, not literal eunuchs, and that's why He says the following right away:

>He that is able to receive it, let him receive it."
It takes spiritual discernment to get the real meaning.
Anonymous No.18136144 [Report]

>Literally what it says.
Yes that is the set up, that eunuchs exist and its actually a good thing, its the making yourself a eunuch part that I have been referring to.

>This is celibacy
No, its celibacy minus genitals, if he was talking about celibacy or chastity alone, he would have said celibacy like in the passages that talk about celibacy or chastity instead of jumping to eunuchs and referencing deformation and mutilation.

>It takes spiritual discernment to get the real meaning.
No, it takes false interpretation to take it that way, by the text it literally says if you can handle cutting off your own dick, you should do it because it will greatly help you get into heaven.

No dont listen to his words as written here is my interpretation.
I will never stop laughing at the fact that christians will spill paragraphs of ink on each of these lines to make sure their followers dont know Jesus was fine with eunuchs and "genital mutilation" as modern Christians call it is fine as long as its consensual.

Fuck christians can you think of another faith that strays further from its founder and the thing its named after.

>It's called hyperbole
It's not hyperbole. Paul and the author of Mark were pro-gentile, they wanted gentiles to be able to become christians and not have to be jewish and become circumcised and follow the law etc, which is why you are quoting from Paul so much.
Peter and the author of Matthew were against this idea (Galatians 2), they didn't like gentiles and wanted to remain observant to the law, which is why in Matthew, Jesus says to follow the law and it also hypes up Peter, more than in Mark at least. The contradiction comes from sectarian fighting, the authors of various texts had different goals and ideas in mind. There is nothing spiritually hidden here. That's why you were unable to reconcile the contradiction.

The church was still being established, it wasn't that the disciples knew every last thing for the direction to go right from the start, just like they didn't when they were in Jesus's ministry.
