The binding of Isaac (the prefigure of Christ) and him being spared because "God Himself will provide a lamb" is literally why the religious sacrifice of humans is no longer widespread. Even if you're an atheist, a visit to Mexico is much nicer and less cardiac-damaging due to Father Abraham. (The New Testament promotion of chastity as an ideal and women as worthy of respect is why you can now visit the tribe I'm descended from without them murdering you and carting off your women; we were so prone to it back in the olden days the Crow sided with Custer in hopes he'd abduct their daughters less.)
