Is there any connotation in the Christian meaning of Faith as “Belief without direct proof”?
In common vernacular the word faith isnt used for something that you can easily directly prove. I wouldnt say “I have faith I have a TV”. I know I have a TV.
Im curious if modern usage of the word faith is similar to the biblical meaning.

Faith is roughly the idea of trusting in God, and adhering to the truths that He has revealed. "Belief without direct proof" is more synonymous with the Christian idea of Hope.

Ok. That resolves my deeper question, in that if there’s an implied unknown in having faith and trusting it, that can the people who directly witnesses the miracles of Christ truly have faith. But with your definitions, I don’t think this question is valid, and speaks more towards our common usage of the term

No
All prophets and apostles asked for miracles to prove that they aren't being lied to

Faith just means trust
Trust that your wife is not committing adultery
Trust that your friends would be there when you fall

Faith in God means
Faith that he knows
Faith that he has a plan
Faith that he is in control
And Faith that, no matter what happens, all will be alright

Just be faithful to him in return

Not at all. You're a liar.
