If you look at it logically the dog is really not harmed by the act, people use it as a reason to hate it but deep down they only hate it because they think having sex with animals is degenerate. As for why they thing having sex with animals is degenerate? I don't know, I mean, animals aren't usually very clean, so having sex with them might increase the spread of disease without the benefit of reproduction that sex between humans have, so it might just be a natural mechanism to prevent that.
