Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 10 years, nothing has changed.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

is an ipad air 11 inch worth getting purely for sketchbook purposes? just like bringing it to work to draw or when i travel
Remember anons, the jannies knew of the guzzler but they ignored his spam on purpose.
Just bought a used Cintiq 22 off Gumtree for the equivalent of $370 USD. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.
There is a good deal on ebay for used/refurbished Cintiq 24 Pros but I'm really put off by the proprietary mounting bracket. I'll gladly take the worse colors, resolution and parallax if it means I get a stand and other mounting options.

>>7554836Anyone know if the Bosto 12HD-A tablet has this issue? I need concrete proofs before I pull the trigger to buy one.
I have an s6 lite and I've been thinking of upgrading to the s9 ultra so I can draw on a bigger canvas and have more layers. Is it possible to draw at a 4000x4000 canvas comfortably? I don't like being stuck at a max of 2500x1500 just so I can avoid crazy lag.
>>7555036Why is he like this? What does he have to gain? Why have the jannies never dealt with him?
I like how he removed the "schizo" part when he copied the deco pro post.
>>7555954Jannies deleted some of the replies here calling them and the schizo out. A thread calling out the state of the board was also deleted, not before some butthurt jannies replying to it. This won't change.
im considering getting a deco pro gen 2, or are the used overpriced wacom tablets still better?
thanks
>>7554835 (OP)as a /beg/ am i going to regret getting the S9+ (12.4") over the S9 Ultra (14.6")? i see everyone drawing and painting on fuckhuge screens. am i just coping by trying to find a middle ground between a desktop and portable drawing station or does everyone else use separate devices for each?
>>7554835 (OP)I have a 2024 s6 kite, what's the best app for drawing on it? It's a bit dated and slow
>>7556058decided on getting used 2017 pro M for a decent price, your schizo advertising worked on me
>>7557028Rethink the "portable" aspect, whether it's a handheld gaming device, or a laptop or a tablet, do you really draw or do work away from your desk? I remember trying to finish assignments on my phone while commuting, and I seldom got any more than two sentences done. I highly doubt you will appreciate a mobile drawing device unless your job actually pays you to take flights across the world and crash at hotels.
I'm desperately trying to find a decent option, got a cheap 100$-200$ XP-Pen tablet a couple of years and it was garbage, the lines all lag and the screen often flickers.
Legit waste of money.
But holy fuck every recommended option here is nearly a thousand.
The medium category would seem like the best option but I cannot find the S8 Ultra anywhere, it seems to be so old it might just not be available anymore. The one I can find is the 10 and that one is nearly a thousand.
There's no way this is the cheapest non-shit option one can get.
A friend also recommended the newer Wacom display tablet One, at 300$ it's much cheaper than the Tab S Ultra and Wacom used to be pretty reliable but it's not even listed on the OP which makes me wonder when was the last time it was updated.
Does anyone have experience with the Wacom One? If it's not shit and at least decent it might be one of the best options under the thousand dollar range at the moment which is a range really lacking decent options. There's also the Cintiq at 500$ which is a littler pricier but still not even close to the 1000$ range.
Any opinions on those two would be very appreciated.
>>7560781Ok disregard this post, I only checked the OP and the replies but didn't read the screencaps.
So the One is garbage too? Damn that's a fucking shame.
I guess I'll wageslave and save for a fucking thousand to get the samsung ones.
Ok this might be the last decent sub $1,000.00 hope.
Is it usable? The biggest issue with all the other options is the unbearable lag. I don't care if the colors are no the best or if the quality is a little lacking as long as it gets the basic job done.
ive owned my xp pen deco 03 for about 2-3 years, i still have my wacom intuos s in my closet. is it worth going back? im fine with xp pen but sooner or later all the nubs are going to be pretty shit from heavy use.
I've currently got a 1st gen iPad Pro, been using it for Procreate mainly, just fooling around trying to keep my drawing habits from getting completely rusted over. I want to begin experimenting and learning stuff like Clip Studio Paint and 3d modeling programs like Zbrush, but they won't run on that old an iPad. Should I just upgrade to a 3rd or 4th gen used Pro and sit on that, or stick with the 1st gen until it dies out finally and upgrade then?
>>7554835 (OP)>Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 LiteAs someone who actually got this one (2022 version), it's basically only really good for taking notes and that's about it. Maybe I'm just using it wrong or something but the palm rejection is temperamental at best, and I feel the general accuracy depends on with which leg it got out of the bed.
>>7561158can someone confirm this, i was about to get one of these off ebay b/c it is only like $150 for a non-cracked one
I saw the palm rejection being a problem in a video as well
>>7560788All the older Cintiqs had poor response times for monitors, and they were the best at the time
I found this video:

If you can't buy a good enough drawing glove, you will have to make your own; unless anyone here knows one you can buy that "just werks"
After reviewing most options it seems like the Tab S10 Ultra might be the best option. Everything else shows some lag issues which is a deal breaker for me and iPad support might not be ideal if my PC runs windows.
The other options are way too expensive for me. This one is around $1,000 which is still a lot but I could afford it if it's really worth it as an investment.
My only concern is the connectivity to PC. I plan to use it just as a second monitor so I can run Clip studio on my PC.
How well does it work in that way?
>>7561853Just get an S8/S9 ultra for 500 bucks second hand, dude. I can't imagine buying the newest version that's barely any better for 2-3x the cost, the nice thing about Android is you don't get the apple retardation tax so you can buy a second hand model for a sane price tag.
do you guys use the felt tip for the intuos pro screenless tablets? shit's so rough when do you actually use them
>>7561866Tried it once. Felt (heh) like rubbing two pieces of styrofoam together. Never fucking again.
How bad is it to try using a screened tablet as a screenless tablet? Im thinking about selling my cintiq16 and getting a intuos something but im not sure, I wanna try screenless first,
I felt more precise when I used a bamboo to play osu honestly...
Also, I see the cintiq16 is rated outclassed,, is it that bad?
>>7554835 (OP)Anybody knows where the fuck you can still get a 3in1 cable for a Cintiq 13HD? Looks like the supply has finally run dry.
I have a Kamvas RDS-220 and quickly drawing small C shapes always creates a new line that snaps to the start of the C shapes and turns them into D shapes, is that a hardware error or just bad build quality by default
>>7554840If you have the money, absolutely. If you only want it to sketch things, I wouldn't get anything too new. an M1 is more than enough and future proof enough for years for only sketching
>>7562195I love my cintiq 16 but I'm old af so to me it's still an upgrade even 5 years later. That being said, I get wanting to get a screenless tablet, getting used to it is very different for everyone but if you already like it more for playing stuff like osu, then you probably won't have much of a difficulty getting used to it since you already developed eye hand cordination with the stylus
>>7561853>My only concern is the connectivity to PC. I plan to use it just as a second monitor so I can run Clip studio on my PC.How well does it work in that way?
Not as good as native monitor tablet. If you use the samsung app it comes with there's lag, there's this app called "Super Display" that let's you use a usb c (given it has video capabilities) as a means to connect it to your PC, thus is a lot better but there's still more lag than with a regular screen tablet and with both, the pen pressure is a bit different thanks to the lag. Plus Super Display is a paid app. 10 bucks last time I checked and sadly it doesn't have dev support anymore but it's still the best option. And it can save you on a pinch but if you want no lag whatsoever with windows... Well, that's pretty much impssible because it's an OS problem that for some reason Android and iOS/iPadOS don't have, but even then it depends on the app. In the Samsung Galaxy S10, the only app with no lag at all is the Samsung notes, the rest have some barely perceptible lag, but lag none the less.
Still it's a great tablet but I also agree with
>>7561862 especially because the processor in the S10 is barely a sidegrade compared to the S9 since the chip is more geared towards the AI functions, so no real gains in any other fields, in fact is worse for gaming, for example. Plus you can get some really good sales for the S9 and S8 even brand new. I got mine (an S9) with a 40% discount when the S10 came out and I've had no problem what so ever. RAM tends to be more important. Also if you can, buy a wacom one pen, but the old one, the one with the white top and black tip but try to use an EMR lammy safari nib. Or a felt tip with a paper textured screen protector. The s-pen is great but it's calibrated for writing so the lines tend to be thinner than what they would be with any other pen when you draw lightly. And the wacom one pen is like 20 usd so it's not too much for a way more comfortable drawing experience
Is there actual much difference with ipad/samsung? Work is paying for a tablet so I can get either
I get the m4 in the ipad is faster but the pen feels like a lump of hard fucking plastic compared to the one on the samsung and my hand is laready fucked up due to nerve damage and after about 30 seconds it fucks me over. I tried the samsung one and didn't have much issue
It looks like CSP is on both and even then infinite paint is basically android procreate?
I'm still learning to draw but am getting a tablet from work for other reasons so figured I might as well ask
>>7563338There are differences but for drawing purposes, not many. Both are great for that but having used both, I personally prefer samsung but the ipad is great too. M4 is overkill for drawing and you also need to buy the most expensive apple pencil if you wanna draw on it. But since you said the samsung feels good to you with your condition, that's the one I'd go with
>>7563328A native monitor tablet sounds great but sadly the good ones seem to cost thousands and all cheaper models have horrible tracking lag with the cursor always trailing behind the pen and I already got a shitty 200$ chinese tablet that works as a monitor and I cannot draw that way, huge waste of money. If there was a better option I'd go for that.
I am hoping at least the lag on this these tablets is more bearable.
Buying used hardware is scary, the new ones are $1000 and used old ones are $500 so it's really tempting but if I'm unlucky and it doesn't work I will wish I had just gotten a new one.
I scored myself an Intuos Pro tablet from Goodwill the other day for, like, seven or eight bucks. Hell of a steal, but it came without a pen. I don't mind since it DID come with the wireless kit.
Anyways, I just wanted to ask if I'd have any trouble finding a replacement pen, stand, etc. And, if anybody has any model numbers I can plug into eBay, please do share.
>>7563338I'm a trad guy but found no difference between the Samsung Tabs and the iPads I tried.
I remember enjoying the drawing experience on a meager S6 lite..
>>7563980this site has a good combatibility list with model numbers, bit outdated though (last updated 2020). shouldn't be too hard to find one that works on an Intuos Pro on ebay.

My impression - quite close to Samsung Tab S experience
What is better: you are not limited by battery and limitations of your tablet hardware
What is worse: Windows touch sucks massive ass, so if you want zoom and move around it's miles worse then Samsung one. Taps are working all right, which is the main reason I wanted touch anyways
Pens and drawing experience are pretty close, and you can buy rubber nibs for Pro Pen 3 so it's a huge plus compared to other Wacom tablets that don't support pro pen 3
It's an OLED screen, so there is a risk of burn ins in the future, but you can turn on "tablet care mode" and lower the brightness to prevent it (I heard that it helps)
The drivers are mostly fine, but from time to time I get an annoying bug where after turning the tablet on your cursor will appear on your other monitor, but it can be fixed by turning tablet on and off, so not a big deal.
Size can be a bummer, but I actually prefer small tablets, it;s a bigger then Samsung Tab S+ models, don't know about the Ultra
So far it's the best Wacom tablet I had (One, One Touch, Cintiq 16)
The price is a bit retarded, so I advise you to wait for a sale or buy a refurbished one from Wacom store if you are going to buy one.
Thoughts on the Cintiq 22? (not buying a chinese tab)
I'm considering to buy samsung galaxy tab s9 small display 11" is it a good idea?
>>7560788>or if the quality is a little lacking as long as it gets the basic job done.the cintiq 16 has technical problems out the ass, free would still be too expensive
if anything wacom should be paying you for having to fix their shit
For a similar $400-$600 price range I'm considering a refurbished older samsung tab ultra or ipad pro and I'm unsure which to get.
I have a windows computer and I'd mostly use them as a monitor connected to it.
My main concerns are of course the latency of the tracking. The ipad pro likes to advertise itself has having near 0 lag but I don't know if that's really true or how they stack up.
It will probably slightly more expensive than a samsung even if specs and accessories are similar.
>>7567624If you're planning on using it as a monitor, ipad is a dogshit choice from what I've heard. Just get a pre-owned S8/S9 ultra for 500 bucks.
Anyone with a cintiq pro 24 and a flex arm? What desk do you guys use that can hold that much weight without it being in danger of cracking/breaking?
The tip of my digital pen started scratching my tablet, I decided to change it and realized that there's only one tip left.
Where is a recommended place to buy? Specifically something like Amazon that ships to Brasil.
>>7567984Unless you are using a cardboard honeycomb table top like most of the Ikea ones, you should have no issue mounting a monitor arm to most tables. Even particle, OSB, melamine and butcherblock tables will have no issue with a 24 inch monitor.
>>7565260Thanks for that feedback! Gonna help when i go to cafes to study, hopefully they'll start hitting the preowned markets soon
>>7570427Shopee or AliEx, I imagine it's easier to find a new stylus altogether, that comes with new nibs.
>>7560788non-pro cintiq are horrible but not sure about alternatives
>>7570636>non-pro cintiqWhat do you mean? They've been industry flagships for years before the pros came out
>>7562201Gave up and bought the same cintiq with a broken screen to get another cable, as much as i like to use Wacom, fuck em for this proprietary cable crap.
My screenless cintiq only works at a perpendicular angle. When it's tilted it doesn't pick up anything. How do I fix this? I bought ir used by.
>>7557161HiPaint, imo. Reason is you can just pay for features, no subscription shit.
>>7554835 (OP)Hey, do you guys have any advice on getting a good quality drawing tablet, or an iPad?
I got my paycheck yesterday and I'm heading to the city soon so I wanna get myself something I can draw on digitally.
I want an iPad type device for portability and so I can upload things online again.
This will be a real upgrade for building skills and having a regular drawing schedule again.
Any recommendations for good iPads/tablet would be awesome.
I'm trying to budget it for around 750 Australian dollars but I can adjust it if I keep my other spending pretty low.
The budget isn't that strict.
>>7571669I use iPad, but don't think it really matters which one you get as long as it's one of the ones with the Apple chip, for longer support. Not sure if there's some limitation with the Apple Pencil versions and iPad versions, you can check in the store. Just get also some paperlike cover for the display and you're good to go.
Don't know about the pricing limitation though. I'd guess you should get some older iPad for that price range
I sound like an Apple shill now, fuck Apple for the most part. I just don't have experience with other tablets and don't mind if someone can recommend other tablets. The drawing experience has been very good on the iPad though
I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get something premium.
The best compromise between price and performance seems to be the S8 Ultra but even that seems to have a decent amount of lag and delay so fuck it why pay 500$ if I can just pay 1500$ and have something better. As long as I take care of this shit it can last me a decade right?
I looked up the Wacom Cintiq 22 and it's just 1,299.95 on Amazon, I think I will just save a couple of months longer to get this.
Are there any caveats left or can I be confident it will work without any issues?
>>7571720>>7571720>I use iPad, but don't think it really matters which one you get as long as it's one of the ones with the Apple chip, for longer supportRight, thank you.
Not sure if there's some limitation with the Apple Pencil versions and iPad versions, you can check in the store
Understandable.
>Just get also some paperlike cover for the display and you're good to goCan I pick this up at any tech/apple store?
So, if I buy an iPad and a Stylis pen together, I could use those for digital drawing without having to hook it up to a PC or laptop?
So I will be able to draw on the iPad with pencil/pen and it will work fine?
I won't need to hook up the iPad to a laptop or computer for it to draw and save drawings?
>>7572791Correct. An iPad is basically a big iPhone with stylus support so you just draw in an app like Procreate and it saves everything on-device or upload it wherever. Most places that sell them have some on show that you can try out and get a feel for too.
>>7555096I decided to buy it after all, $99 bux for a IPS display tablet is a steal, I'll test it when it arrives and see if it has the same issues the other chink tablets show in the webm. Worst case scenario I'll still have a decent portable monitor.
I use a Kamvas 13 Gen 3 and the lower knob for zooming in/out is busted. I'm not sure if this is a me issue only but it's sensitive as shit and even just rotating it a bit will cause the screen to zoom in/out way too closely or spaz out if I try to spin the dial multiple times. Does anyone else have this model and this issue?
>>7573514I have a Kamvas 16 Gen 3. It is sensitive, but it's not an issue for me, it kinda makes a tactile click every time it's activated and zooms, so I just make sure I only turn it a few clicks at a time. Also, I'm pretty sure this is software related, so you should probably check if the software's behaviour can be changed. I think all the zoomwheel does is send some zoom-in key combination like Ctrl+. If you spin it in your browser it still zooms in and out.
It's a real good tablet, 1 month in and I have no issues. Been drawing for longer each day than I did on paper and I am now making a comic.
Is having a good drawing tablet an important prerequisite to drawing?
I'm using an s23 ultra with the pen right now
>>7574244Are there even phone tablet artists who have made it?
>>7574244Bro, you could spend $20,000 on the top of the line Wacom tablet and it would be just useless if you don't got the talent or creativity genes, while someone with the correct genes can make it with a $1 notebook and pencil.
>>7574568Lmao why are you here if you've fully adopted the loser mindset. Surely no point in browsing /ic/ if it's all up to talent?
my over decade old Intuos pro, PTH-651, suddenly doesn't want to turn on today.
I plug it in, the light turns on for a second, then it stops. I cannot get it to turn on anymore no matter what. Different cable. Different usb port. Im in distress.
Is it possible it just died and cannot be saved?Ive had it since 2013. Im trying to plug in all sorts of cables and it just wont light up
>>7575866>12 yearsStick a fork in it, it's done. I mean you could take it to a tech to check if there's something wrong with the USB port but nowadays there are lots of working secondhand intuos pros you could get off cheaper. Especially if your pen is in good shape.
>>7575866Most likely issue is that the port on the device itself has failed and is no longer making good contact. Just buy another one, it'll only cost you like 50 bucks. Might even be able to upgrade to a large.
>>7575899>>7575906My pen is in wonderful shape and still got lots of fresh nibs.
I live in new zealand, a quick check shows a used intuos pro is between 50 and 150 dollars. Perhaps a used one is also nearing the end of its life and might die soon after I buy it. Thats my main worry.
Was looking at a new wacom one, which seems very affordable. The only thing im worried about is lack of buttons. I can get used to no wheel and no buttons though.
Just need to make a decision between risking it with a used one, or getting brand new.
>>7575908The USB port is about the only failure point on these things. Just get one without a lot of surface wear, because that means it's probably been used once and then sat in a box for the past decade.
The cheap newer stuff is just worse.
>>7575916Alright, thank you. I will look into a used one, or see if i can get my usb port repaired.
It looks like this is the sort of thing that will need to be done
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfdJnW8B5oE
>>7575929Paying someone to repair it will easily cost you more than a new one, so there's very little point if you can't do it yourself.
>>7575866 here.
Frustrated at 2nd hand sellers lack of communication, overpricing, and listing small tablets as medium. How can I even trust them to ship the damn thing to me if they are this retarded.
Thinking about the option of just using my tablet's wireless function by getting a battery and wireless thing for it.

>>7577685thanks for the heads up. Il keep an eye on it
wish I'd checked this thread before buying this thing, but it was only 80 quid from cash converters so I don't have much buyers remorse.
It's still alright to draw on if keep my hand in one position, but any angle that isn't the same as the one I calibrated it at is just way off (made a webm to show what I'm talking about)
Maybe I'll get used to it after a while but all it's done is make me want to shell out for something that's actually fucking accurate.
Is base model iPad (a16) usable or is does the unlaminated display make it an irredeemable piece of shit?
I have a 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch and I've noticed the corners of the screen flickering very slightly at times. Anyone else run into this? Can I expect it to stabilize or is it going to get worse?

Anyone still doing laptops is going to tell you to just buy a new one if it isn't an overpriced mac, because it won't be worth the cost to fix. If you want to fix a cable you're going to need to do it yourself, or more realistically just buy a new one.

What sort of monitor/table arm do I use for my Huion, is any monitor arm good or are there any special types for tablets specifically
Isn't it funny how this thread seems to get replies only when it gets to page 8 or more?
Gonna ask here as well
I'm having line quality issues that I don't have when drawing on paper, is it just a matter of practice? I switched to digital 6 months ago but something feels off
I just bought a tab s6 lite for $100. Do I use ibis paint X or Adobe Fresco or Krita?
From the videos I watches, Krita is supposedly only usable on bigger tablets because they didn't change the layout from the PC.

I would try them myself, but i get easily dejected and i don't want to spiral, in zoomer terms, over how bad my first non-phone digital art attempt is.
I tried medibang on my note 8 and it was an extremely bad experience.
I'm looking for any advice about line stabilization and whether I should use a paper-like screen protector.
If I don't get any replies I will try infinite painter, ibis paint X and krita in that order.

>>7589075I unplugged it for like 8 hours and it's fixed.
I've been using Krita with an Intuos S for a little bit and it still feels very unnatural when it comes to drawing and sketching. Painting is ok and I'm finally growing in my comfort with it but I can draw with pen and paper and then switch to the tablet and it feels like I'm starting from scratch in my ability. Lines don't go where I want, can't find a hand or tablet position I like. It also feels too small for drawing with but that could be a workflow adjustment I need to make.
Because of that, I'd like to try drawing on a screen. Looking at 3rd gen Ipad Pro because I'm seeing some for under $300 and that's about all I could afford rn. I've kind of had a bad experience with cheaping out on used stuff so if it's not really gonna be great I can keep working at using this Intuos. Any advice?
>>7587705are you using a screen tablet or screenless? If screenless you need to train your hand to eye coordination while looking at your monitor that takes time but if youre using a display tablet well you just got to get used to it.

are there any anons that use devices like tourbox elite with devices that already have touchscreen features (ipad/galaxy tab/surface or hecc, even displays with touchscreens, though apparently those only got better recently)?
if so, why? they especially seem redundant with ipad/galaxy tab and iirc the surface, like theyre made to be touched. all i can think of is maybe muscle memory for the elderly, and not many programs on desktop OS's that has touch capabilities and most of them suck balls, but common choices like photoshop, and especially clip studio paint has good touch capabilities. enlighten me

It's nice to be able to instantly switch brushes without moving your pen, which you have to do even if you're doing some weird shit like using your off-hand to touch buttons on the screen, because pen input cancels touch input so you need to take the pen away first.

>>7601106yeah that's normal
the surface of the tablet has a texture so it's not too slippery to draw on.
this wears down the nibs. on newer wacom pens it's especially fast because they use a softer plastic for the nibs to sell more replacement nibs. any nib replacement should be fine, as long as it fits. just make sure it don't have any sharp edges because you might scratch the surface and cheap chinese ones have low quality control.
after 2 months or so the surface is smoothed out enough so the nibs don't wear down that fast anymore

>>7609596Bit late, I don't have schizophrenia and took the gamble and bought the artist pro 24 second hand on eBay for $250 in pretty damn good condition, the seller was even kind enough to throw in remote for free. Been using it daily for a month and a half now and it's OK to draw on. I upgraded from a Cintiq 13HD and while the bigger space was a crucial upgrade, the pen isn't anywhere near as responsive/precise as wacom (and the 13HD model is well over a decade old), it still gets the job done and that's all that matters I guess.
Pen pressure definitely needs reconfiguring unless you're heavy handed while drawing (the default settings hardly pick up light strokes)
Overall it's usable, I haven't run into any of the issues the webms show. If you're autistic about muh precision then just save for a wacom, preferably a somewhat larger size like a 22in or you'll be dealing with back pain from working in a cramped screen. Hope this helps

I've had probably every brand of tablet, xencelabs has been my favorite display and second place would be a samsung tab, third place is cintiq. After that are the huion/xppen/gaomon/low tier or ancient wacoms etc theyre all pretty much the same.

Also, where to find replacement felt nibs for the Intuous 3 stylus? All I can find are ones for the more modern styluses (stylii?) be cool if there were some cheap source...
this is more of a drawing software question, but hardware probably plays a hand
i bought a new gen ipad recently for the frequency of drawing apps in the app store. csp lags HORRIBLE for some reason. i so far:
-turned off the power saving mode so internals can exert full power
-tried to allocate more ram, which was allocated by default anyway
-don't use huge ass canvases or brush sizes %85 of the time
-never turned on the timelapse feature.
default brushes fare better, but some of the community made brushes i collected over the years fare way worse
of note, i own multiple samsung tablets and one is more or less comparable in specs when i look at benchmarks, it still performs better. the other has better internals compared to the aforementioned samsung, more storage and ram and it obviously performs better. and i do use power saving mode with both so they're not at their true form. went to an apple store to check if my device is ok (of note only csp does this), but for some reason the demo devices didn't have csp anymore, wonder if that's something
does celsys not do quality control anymore? do they only optimize for m series airs and pros and call it a day? i know csp sucks nuts on desktop because no hw acceleration but mobile versions were optimized better and i think they dropped the ball around late v2 to early v3, didn't expect they'd neglect the walled garden to the extent android would leave walled garden enjoyers agape, especially when japan loves their iphones and ipads this much. thank god i don't rely on csp, but csp is fun to toy with and i feel like a kid whose ipad is taken by their parents ironically enough.
i'm not hopeful for a solution as i feel like that'd come with setbacks at this point, but i couldn't find jack shit on search engines either and i don't want to be alone. also thank you for reading for my wall of text anon

>>7619575>Having some sort of self-contained tablet running FOSS software would be sweet which is my im interested in these touch laptops. Some of those have official pens so im wondering if they are actually any good.I would only get one that has an actual pressure sensitive digitizer, not just ones with a random stylus.
As far as tablet pc/2 in 1 with styluses go, I guess Surface Pro, Surface Laptop Studio, Lenovo Flex, Asus Zenbook, HP Envy 360, that kind of 2-in-1 stuff is what you're looking for.
I don't know about the linux driver situation for each one, you'll have to look it up, but most of these things usually use a wacom digitizer so that stuff should work with unofficial drivers I would think. If you see it has compatibility with Lamy or Staedtler styluses its a wacom and it's pretty much guaranteed to be good. Only one thats always definitely not wacom is any microsoft surface device, idk if those would break or not with linux.
I think mobiletechreviews has gone over some of those laptops and the specs before as well as how it feels to draw on them.
Whatever you pick, you can always back it up and make a recovery disk/usb, so if it doesnt work with the OS you want you can just reinstall it and return that shit.

Anyways thanks for the pointer in the right direction.
>>7619973>They cost half of what these laptops cost sometimes.well the official ones anyways. And they don't seem to be that good either so im probably going to get some alternative ones. As long as they are using the same protocol it should work the same right?

>>7620014>If it uses Wacom technology, can't you just use any Wacom compatible pen?Not necesaarily. Samsung tablets use the same frequency or parts as Wacom One display tablets, so both can use all the cool pens.
But you can't use those pens on cintiq or some other wacom tablets. Sometimes the tablet pcs will use parts from those instead of wacom one.
Thankfully if you go to wacom estore and look up the staedtler for example and scroll down theres a compatibility list
>>7620019Once you're used to it it just feels superior in every way. Zero input lag, your hand isn't obscuring the picture, and you can tape paper to the front so it feels nice to draw on and lasts forever.

Anyways is the sensing and pressure stuff interdependent from any bluetooth stuff? >this is expected behavior of this technologyI'm retarded because I expected the bare minimum
>>7620199Personal preference, I've had them before and it's fine to draw on, for example apple pencil is AES. I just dislike dealing with it.
>AES Active Electro StaticA stylus paired with electro static grids behind the screen, a grid and the stylus interact and create an electrical field, the other grids recieve input, the change in charge detects position. The pen uses battery (the "active" part of this) to send pressure sense, tilt, and button presses to the reciever.
Stylus is heavier, needs batteries/charging, after a few years battery or stylus needs replacing, good pressure sensitivity and polling rate, low hover distance, slow diagonal lines can be very jittery or wavy same as n-trig with surface pro, so if the driver doesnt compensate for it (usually they dont) you have to draw them fast, stylus choice is pretty small.
>EMR Electro Magnetic ResonanceSame as cintiq/intuos.
A layer of sensor grid behind the screen, each sensor emits a weak magnetic signal creating a field. The stylus powers up using the magnetic field, reporting its pressure/tilt/button presses, while the change in the field reports its position.
No battery (or if there is, its only for unnecessary bonus features), effectively the same sensitivity and lower polling rate, slow diagonal lines are way more likely to be straight, higher hover distance, can show you the hover tilted brush preview in some software, usually much more stylus choices, they will last forever until you do something to break them.
>Anyways is the sensing and pressure stuff interdependent from any bluetooth stuff?Depends. For EMR it is not dependent on bluetooth. My galaxy tab stylus is bluetooth capable, but I can use it with bluetooth off and nothing changes for me, same if I grab a different stylus without bluetooth capability.
With AES, you can use it with bluetooth off, but it will work like any capacitive stylus. Capacitive styluses are those cheap aluminum things that suck.

>>7554835 (OP)Can anybody figure out file management on csp for android? got myself an S8 ultra, but the file management is complete garbage for Clip studio. Thumbnails don't show up in the files app, and it doesn't even understand what file type it is unless you directly open it directly from CSP.
Tried out some file managers on appstore, and only one of them can show thumbnails, but you have to pay for it. I have an ipad and its default file manager works perfectly fine with CSP, but it seems even good android tablets are just a step above the chinese shit.
I've had my XPPen artist pro 16 for about a year now, it's fine, but I get wobbly lines and I don't know what else I can do. I've updated everything I can, tried different pen nibs, screen protectors (smooth and rough). Any time I do a slow controlled line it comes out wobbly, like the tablet is picking up every micro-movement of my arm. Even if I put tracing paper over the tablet and draw circles they come out wobbly on the screen and smooth on the page. I learned to draw traditionally, I've tried everything. I can get smooth-as-silk freehand lines on paper/canvas using pencils/pens/brushes/whatever without issue. I've also tried my friend's ipad pro 2, and I still have my screenless intuos 4 where I have a similar issue. I've tried PS/CSP/Rebelle/etc. It's better if I zoom in a lot, the lines come out smoother, but at 100% it's shit. Is my only option to crank the smoothing up to get decent linework digitally? I can get good lines if I do very quick strokes, but I don't like to draw that way. Would a larger tablet help at all?
>>7623420wobble like this? not much you can do. it's somewhat built-in because of how the technology works. a larger tablet would only help a little bit.
https://docs.thesevenpens.com/drawtab/core-features/diagonal-wobble
Try Lazy Nezumi, it has the best software smoothing and you can use it on any software.
>>7623486That's definitely one of the issues, but I realize that's from pen like.. snapping to sensors that spaced too far apart when making diagonal lines. Also unfortunate, but at least I know what that's about.
I also get a different wobble because I draw with slow lines. I know everyone tends to do the... quick stroke and ctrl+z until you get the right line method. But I really hate drawing like that. I know I can make smooth lines on paper or trad media, even when I try using like.. felt pens on an eraser board to simulate the slippery nature of a tablet. I honestly think the tablet is just picking up every little micro-movement in the pen, almost as if it's too sensetive, but I can only adjust the pressure.
I'm surprised mroe people don't have this issue, unless I'm just having it because I"m trying my best to work without smoothing. Maybe I just need to give in.
>>7621638You can just look up AES wacom stylus and might get more results. There arent styluses either made by the laptop mamufacturer or wacom.
>>7622339>>7622375I miss the old OP that was actually helpful but this guy got a stick up his ass about specifically old wacoms and ipads being the best. I think he's likely a reseller stuck with a lot of intuos 3 and old ipads. And he hates cheap chinese brands but doesnt care that wacom and ipad are made in china too with the same parts.
>>7623817Try updating your tablet firmware and the drivers, back up your config first though. It would help if you posted what kind of lines are coming out of slow diagonal strokes.
If I have a wide gamut display tablet is it better to set it to P3 instead of SRGB? Will it matter if I paint in P3 and then export to SRGB so that it I can check how it looks on other devices?

>>7624436Thanks a lot anon, it's a good guide.
I use Clip Studio though and you can't choose a color profile for the program. You can do sRGB preview limited to the canvas but the color picker will still always be in the wider gamut.
If I don't do the sRGB preview it looks off and much more saturated to me on every image, is that just not being used to a wider gamut? I don't know if it's worth to always enable the preview every time I open a new file or just draw in the wider gamut and get used to switching to preview once in a while.

>>7624746>Is wobble an issue that every tablet has in general?Yes. It's because of the grid behind it. The tablet driver does some kind of smoothing to combat this stuff. People who play OSU remove the smoothing from their wacom tablets and then when they draw with it like that see the same janky lines.
And yes near the corners is an issue with lots of tablets, I think with the nicest newest ones they've finally mitigated it. But if you think about it one sensor on the corner cant be nearly as accurate as a whole group of them like in the center.
What's the reason iPads are the 'default' between that and Android?
Isn't Procreate just the same as Infinite Painter? And with the nib on the ipad pen being plastic and fucking huge, wouldn't it make it harder to do more detailed and accurate lines?

>>7624840>Yes. It's because of the grid behind it. The tablet driver does some kind of smoothing to combat this stuffThat is a little different from what i have heard while researching these laptops. The grid density matters yes, but allegedly the digitizer is at fault. It interpolates it wrong which can be allegedly improved via proper calibration but either the laptop manufacturer is cheaping out or wacom is purposefully gimping the digitizers in these laptops so there is a reason to get their hardware instead. And any sort of smoothing after the diditizer sends its data is more like a bandaid than a fix. I think that is more likely that the manufacturers just don't care enough. Good models that track well are made seemingly at random with their price not affecting their quality.
Anyways what do you think about how the laptop i posted fairs? I think the difference between krita and photoshop in that video might have something to do with default smoothing settings or something.
And it looks like the pattern is different between devices. Picrel is how my e-reader with an active pen does it. Its not wavy but straight instead.
