I bought my glove twice because drawing on digital is causing me issues due to my hands being terribly too greasy. But I just completed 2 months and it still didn't come.
Decided to buy a new sketchbook to go drawing on trad altogether a mechanical pencil to go on in trad while unable to go in digital.
The sketchbook came, it's cool and all but the pencil not. So my only alternative now is to fuck myself with the 6B pencil I have in here or return to ballpoint.

If you want a technical breakdown of what the modes actually do computationally, here. But tl;dr the multiply mode just allows you to shade things without having to think too much, useful for cel-shading flats. Because they're a separate layer you can go back and edit it as much as you want without ruining what's underneath as well. As for what colors to use, depends what color shadows you want to end up with.

It helps to know what the hand is doing underneath. I recommend looking at a guide on how to construct hands, then tracing over hands of art you're copying with those construction lines and analyze carefully. Then draw it again next to the reference until you can draw it ok on your own. You're doing ok though! The palm part you need to pay attention to more. 3d forms and such. And don't forget the thumb can spread out pretty far from the hand and there's the skin that connects it to the palm.

I started posting my drawings to social media recently. While I always thought that a part of me wanted to be like the artists I admire and share my work with the world, it instead left me feeling... strange.
It's not that I got near 0 engagement that's bothering me. No, I expected that. You have to start from the bottom to get anywhere. That's fine.
Instead, I felt that I was doing something wrong. Not wrong for others, but wrong for myself. I felt like I was sharing something personal and dear to me, like something you'd write in your diary, with the world and that in doing so, there was something about it that made me feel impure and dirty.
It gave me a feeling as though a guy came up to me and said "Hey, can I kiss your girlfriend? Y'know, just so see what she's like?" and I said "Sure, go ahead" without thinking - only for my stomach to drop the second their lips meant.
It sounds silly, but I guess as someone who has been drawing for years and always my drawings to myself (rarely even sharing anything here beyond studies), even though in the back of my mind I always said "Gotta grind and get better so I can share my work with people," now that I'm at a level where I feel like I can do that... I've done it, and I realize doing it doesn't make me feel good. Maybe I liked art just being a private thing I just kept to myself.
Or maybe I just need to give it more time, and I'll get used to it. I'm an anxious type, and just doing my usual second guessing. Maybe that's it.
What do you guys think? Is this something you guys had to deal with when you started sharing your work with the world?

That's part of the problem.
I drew the left one during morning, while on work meetings and thought "Damn. I love this one so much!". Made even sure she would be as happy as me, but decided to finish the right one later, after work.
Now she's just not clicking in. I couldn't think of what to do with her mouth, the volume of hair is wrong. It was supposed to have an ear in there too...

Do each individual piece at same time in both the eyes.
For example, if you start with an eyelash in one eye, do the same eyelash in the other eye immediately.

Actually I notice in a lot of stills of Maomao the eyebrows are almost completely hidden by the hair. They only really show up to express emotions.

The problem with the left drawing is mostly proportion and positioning of the features imo.
Especially the ear and left eye which makes the face way too wide, and the eyes being too high up on the face.
I moved things around a bit so that the proportions are closer to what you see in most modern anime and I think it looks a lot better. I barely touched the jaw I only extended it a little bit.
Obviously this is also also a matter of style and taste but some proportions/feature positions do look objectively bad.

how do japanese artists ACTUALLY draw the head? Every time I look it up on youtube I just get a bunch of westoids that do some variation of the Loomis head and it never looks quite right. What proportions do they use? I was watching Try draw (picrel) and it seemed like he started with a small ball, added the face and jaw, and then added more mass to the top of the ball to form the rest of the head.

I think the reason the loomis method sucks for anime is that the eyes and ears generally start at least half way down the face. If you use the loomis method and place the top of the eyes and ears half way down the ball like you're taught and then extend down for the jaw then you've already fucked up because now the features are way too high on the face.
My guess is the reason for the smaller ball is that you can still use the principle of the loomis method to get the angle of the face correct but then extend both up and down so that the features are in the correct place.
