growing up is realizing that most fags especially in here only like the idea of drawing and don't want to put in the work(hours-years) it takes to improve/get better.

I want its more people liking the idea of drawing, but don't have something they're passionate about that they actually want to draw. At least it was in my case.

>many years ago get a shitty wacom 12ux tablet to draw with
>only really play warcraft at the time
>drawing is a boring chore I hate and have no fun with because damn I don't like drawing this
>give tablet to a friend a year later and drop it

>2023
>heavily into genshin and fightan games
>get a new tablet to learn drawing again because good tablets are cheap as shit now and the tech has improved so much
>pumping out drawings of my fav characters every week while laughing and having fun with the stupid things I make of them, and actually making art friends and just doing so much I never would've dreamed of before

Between wage slaving, social commitments, cooking for myself and doing some weight lifting to keep in shape i just don't have more than 4-5 hrs per day.
Anonymous No.7585598 [Report] >>7593107

“Wage slaving” 40 hours is a side hustle. You got Saturday and Sunday, you draw 16 hours each day. Add the weekday hours and it matches if not exceeds working hours if you use breaks and lunches to draw. No excuses.

I'm too old to be drawing 5 hours a day guilt free. Young people have no excuse. I've done my grinding and I got the fundies mostly down, I need to draw appealing things and grinding doesn't increase appeal.

what do people who sketch for 8 hours even draw? after like an hour i feel like i run out of ideas, or are they just doing a ton of poses they picked out beforehand?
Anonymous No.7585678 [Report]

they work on a piece or multiple pieces, those take a long time if its well thought out, background, composition, characters, costume, props
Anonymous No.7585682 [Report] >>7585685
>>7585666
there are turd polishers that spend 9 hours on one piece, sketches that slowly sketch various things for hours with no goal or plan to finish them, and even chit chatters that just work on one piece aimlessly. Actually drawing completed pieces one after another for 9 hours is nearly impossible, only professionals and begs with no shame can do it.

so he doesn't have the stress of having to stay consistent and relevant with appealing drawings. Anyone can draw 8 hours a day if they can just draw anything knowing nobody's going to see it. Try drawing 8 hours a day and getting thousands of likes on twitter with each drawing. Try drawing 8 hours of viral bangers instead of random sketches.

The fella in the OP just draws endless characters, no clue if he's got a reference board or if he just pulls it all out of his head. Sometimes he'll work on a bigger, more fleshed out piece. I guess his secret to not killing himself, apart from autism, is hopping from one thing to another, while he's working on one thing his mind works out what to do with the other pictures.

I guess having a routine helps

Most, maybe, but not all.
There are a few people that learned here that moved on to become successful artists.

There are other people who come here to advertise their art who are already established- and a lot of people who come to genuinely give and get criticism.

There’s also a big chunk that just want to draw and share ideas without stress. There’s not a lot wrong with that either

I like drawing, i draw because i enjoy doing it. I dont spend lot of hours per day to drawing because i have lot of other stuff that i have to do or enjoy to do. Drawing is just one of my hobbies that i do for fun. Sure grinding hours and hours every day to practice would make me better faster but it doesnt make it more enjoyable, and that's the main goal in drawing to enjoy it

growing up is also realizing that even if you get gud it doesn't mean you'll enjoy making art into a career. Even solo artists start to feel like art is a chore. I'm sure some artists grow to resent art.

When I was just beginning, I spent six hours a day on it because everything took so much time. Once I got better, I could do the same in an hour or less. For some of us, drawing hands and poses is just boring every day, not because we're not good at it, but because it's repetitive. Not everyone feels fulfilled by drawing anime, when was the last time this board did the "draw a fruit on table, a tree outside" challenge.

I cant draw 6 hours a day, because that would be at least 4 finished pieces. It takes a lot of mental energy to come up with 4 original pieces a day. And i am not going to spend 6 hours doodling or polishing one drawing.
I got maybe 2 drawings in me each day, and they can take any amount of time. 30min each or 2 hours eact
