Is there any particular reason for this colour scheme that is used over and over in anime?

I mean this, these three colours, which are used for interiors in anime all the time

I mean, I get that the dark colour is just what wood looks like, the white is what paper or plaster looks like, and the middle is what slightly daker plaster or lighter wood looks like

But there is very little variation, even in modern houses in anime which can be painted any colour, or even fantasy or scifi settings.
Do you think there is some good reason for it? The colours are warm and homely feeling, I wonder if that's what people are thinking.

Should I copy this when I draw an interior? Should I use this colour scheme or is this just a quirk of Japan that all their homes look the same and they have not thought about other colours, or is there some negative to drawing say a blue room or a red room?

Even here, the books on the bookshelf largely adhere to the colour scheme even though very few books are actually those colours

This one is a deviation, it has blue in it, though perhaps a wooden bathtub would have looked silly

they're very pleasant warm complimentary colors

Cel era anime backgrounds were mostly painted with poster colour.

Besides the fact that most peoples' homes in the late 20th century had a lot of earth tones...

Cel paints are already desaturated. Making the background more desaturated helps the characters read better. Browns are desaturated oranges, and blues contrast with the warm skin colors.
But mostly it's a "paint what's there, nothing fancy needed" - these people were on deadlines and you're showing houses, not space ships. Take screenshots from Macross, Harlock or Gundam and you have less browns.
