Like I know with most modern scanners there should be a "black and white" option for scanning in things, so would it be to do pencil tests and see how your scanner reacts to different materials and see what gives a good black line? In my previous scannings I know if I go hard enough with one of my col-erase pencils it can read as black, is that what the image is referring to?
Either way though I know that with modern scanning traditional inking isnt all that necessary if you wanna do comics. I followed Mark Crilley in my youth but some stuff of his has stuck with me like the fact that hes done most of his comics with Prismacolor, and they still manage to look comic ready without needing to use a completely different medium.
Im still learning inking on my end cause I kind of wanna grow my line confidence but if any anon wants to make a comic and is discouraged by the inking process, you dont need it. A good dark pencil can work just as fine
