Just to explain what's been going on: recently our internet security at work was changed after 13 years, there is no access to recreational websites like 4chan (it actually cut out some work-essential stuff too so that's been fun but I digress). I can open the site using my phone's LTE network but I can't post. After my 11 hour workday I'm often caught up in a bunch of other errand stuff as well as my nightly studies-it's been a lot harder to keep up with the thread these days but I'm trying to be more conscious of it.

One user stands out to me, "Boo" who was a beginner who joined over a year ago, several years perhaps. He'd drawn groups of small studies and kept to himself this entire time. When he deviates from these studies and shows the ways in which he's progressed recently I'm blown away. I'm proud of that guy.

Beginners are welcome as long as they don't act like lunatics, ruining other people's stuff and such. Don't be afraid to join-as long as you're trying to seriously improve yourself and your art you're welcome.

is anyone else trying to join through browser just constantly getting a server disconnect error? I want to join in on these but I draw on Ipad. Tried to access on desktop too to test if it was just the Ipad but doesn't work there either

The answer to that is-as with all pieces of art-maybe or maybe not. For example, I'll be picking at this still life I'm working on for at least a couple days. Other people may have a mixture of pieces drawn with pure intuition or a mixture of intuition and reference.

Remember anon, using a reference isn't bad, it's what you do with it and how you make it your own!

What's a good simple brush to use in dp?

I'm always a fan of the "pixel 1" brush as 2 pixel width
when drawing at 100% it looks nice (at least to me)

Default "line" brush.
Dial down the ridiculous 100 stabilization.
Edit the brush by clicking the icon with 3 lines on the brush window. Set minimum size to 1.
Switch pressure sensibility between opacity and hardness to see which one you like the most.
I also set spacing to 0, but at size 3 I don't see any difference.

If you want to ink just disable pressure sensitivity on opacity and hardness.

Took me a bit to see it. I think the general crunchiness is from Drawpile's home-grown pixel brush, but those tiny little areas of screentone were likely added in via a third party program (I believe this user favors CSP outside of Drawpile).

idk if you're familiar with how things work on drawpile, but the common rules only apply on their native servers (drawpile, SyntheticDreams, etc.)- any other servers have their own rules- up to and including being able to say the n word and drawpile as an entity can say or do nothing of it.

yea this drawpile is very lenient on anything nsfw, the biggest rules are pretty much dont draw/modify over other's art and draw at a size where you dont take an extreme amount of space (considering its a 10k x 10k sized canvas you can comfortably draw at 100%+ zoom)
