Try mixing Scott Robertson's book with Proko's videos on perspective and Peter Han's Dynamic Sketching, and you will get so much more progress that way.

The Complete Guide to Drawing Manga Anime (Date Naoto). It says you can draw in 90 days but I'm almost done with the book so it has taken longer since I take a bit of my time with it.

I started with drawings from Rabbit and Steel since it seemed not too easy but not too hard so like a reachable goal. After that I moved on to more detailed less chibilike drawings like Kemono And now I'm drawing Umamusume using this site: https://setteidreams.net/settei/ + lots of figure drawings and different parts of the body.

But tldr is I would find something that was not impossible to reach but not too easy to achieve until it became easy and then move on to the next hardest thing.

Those Doga Kobo videos are in-person too, they're used inside their anime studio to train newbie animators, and we only have the videos because the industry have a shortage of animators for years, so why not make some money and help the industry at the same time.

Like I said, I can get by on self-study mostly but Hide is a good instructor and i've had success with his youtube videos getting me on the right track for a while. This course seems very structured with actual exercises (supposedly). Full bodies i'm still struggling to get over the line of a certain quality and realness his work has. I'd like to learn that with some guidance for once. The only other Coloso course i've ever gotten from here was Rinotuna's (though that's more biased since he's one of my inspos) and i've been using that for a while though hit a wall with how more general it is. I tried getting into OCC's group buy forum but found their payment methods to be sketchy so I backed off at the last minute. Telegram is definitely a no, i'd like to have it but not /that/ badly.

To be honest i've looked at nearly all of them to do with 2D illustration but personally (and I mean personally, you might have a favorite artist on there) I didn't see anything useful other than Hide. Timbougami's might be good but I wouldn't know if it ends up being too broad and generalized again. I have a feeling it will be so i'm not interested. But I can probably find an answer for this somewhere if I try harder. I'm not here to waste people's time begging for every little thing, I just would like this and use it for a long time. He's popular enough you might even find some people on twitter talking about taking it or something. At a glance it doesn't look like something for complete beginners but has some fundamentals. Some of them are worse offenders than others. I peeked at Ixy's course and it's as you say. But I found Rinotuna's pretty good for the basics. At least I found his suggested exercises clicked with me personally. It's aimed at beginners to low intermediates, though I found it lacking in that it felt too broad. That's my problem with a lot of them mainly. I'd rather they go into detail on a specific concept (like just hands or just the face or just rendering) and spend many chapters just in that one topic. You're right though not all illustrators are good instructors, especially be wary of the ones that aren't instructors or don't have experience being one. Those are often just to capitalize on their existing fanbase.

Pretty much, I don't blame them for not really knowing how to go over the material but I wish coloso would do a bit better when it comes to making the structure of the given course and letting the artist fill the gasp later. Off the top of my head: Rockhe Kim, Kota Kato, Hide, Rinotuna, Gregor Kari, Jeonghyun Seok (Stonehouse Anatomy guy), Baasedong (SINI42 on youtube, a korean instructor that focuses on portfolios for freelance/gacha game work). At least those are the ones i'm personally familiar with. If you look at the artist's profile on their course page there's usually a list of credits/work they do and you can then google and confirm classes that they've taught prior to Coloso. Now this isn't a guarantee that they're superior, it still hinges on what you want out of the course, but they might have a better chance of giving you the feeling of actually being at a proper class lecture than a podcast.

Coloso got a few specialist courses that Udemy don't. I draw webtoons and there's no WEBTOON course on Udemy by a Korean artist but there's a few on Coloso.
I have a friend that only use Coloso for the anime courses by anime animators, none of it on Udemy probably because Japs don't teach that topic on it.

Premium courses don't just give you theory. The good ones provide you with a structured way to learn, covering fundamentals for the particular course. They are usually also split weekly, with homework assignments for each week. Some youtube videos can be good, but it's scattered info. Going to one place and having a pro artist provide you with a step by step way to improve is way more efficient. Well thats my opinion atleast

Agree with this. The homework part is important so you don't just click off or skip around. Even if you got the vod without direct feedback. Of course if you can get feedback or just straight up 1-on-1 mentorships, they're still the most effective way to learn with someone but they're not easy to come by. No. I was going through the perspective course and colour and light course. You can find it at online-course club, I didn't get it from there though, so not sure if all the files are there. Subs are machine translated though, so they suck at times. Personally my download keeps getting interrupted. Either "frozen" or "temporary error". Sometimes manually pausing and resuming resolves the error but only for a few mins.
