sometimes I see ai pics in other threads on 4chan and its so demoralizing. I'm sitting here wracking my brain trying to draw something with form and ai can just shit out interesting form and gesture like its nothing. and I don't mean hyper rendered sakimichan shit, I mean AIs specifically designed to look like doodles.

normal people dont have to come up with these contrived scenarios, they just do the first thing that pops into their head and their lives are awesome. Meanwhile we have to carefully calculate and tiptoe around life and play perfectly optimally or our file gets softlocked.

Women like meditation and those spiritual 'hang in there' posters and whole lot - so I disagree that 'normal' people don't have these thoughts or think these sort of scenarios. You're not so special anon, none of us are, your thoughts (and ours) are hardly that unique.

If you want anything in life worth having you'll hit that wall and your brain will say "This is stupid why are we even doing this" and if you don't have an answer you'll give up. That goes for people in higher education, military, getting a certification- no one has it easy. Even people who have free rides hit this wall, everyone struggles in life it's part of being a living organism.

I'm with you man. But for me it's closer to 7.
I think my problem is that I was neglecting studies. There were some entire years where I basically drew nothing from reference. Now I'm committed to doing a lot of studies, and practicing them until I can do them fast and accurately. idk if it'll actually help, I might just be fucked because I have anti-talent, but at the very least this is a concrete change from what I was doing before, so there's hope I guess.

Progress isn't linear
One of these days its going to finally click for you and you'll make massive progress

there are three basic levels of intent to a skill
>hobby (purely for fun)
>serious hobby (fun but also gitting gud/potentially a "side hustle" as the kids would say)
>professional or whatever (actually trying to git gud so you can live off of it)
personally I draw for fun
I will never life off, or make any money from drawing
I have serious hobbies I could probably monetise
and then a few very specific skills I'm seeking professionalism in because I would love to do them for a living
so ask yourself
is drawing something you want to do for self expression and fun? or is it something you want to live off?

That's just how it goes sometimes. Just keep at it. I've been at this about that long and still in a similar boat but I keep at it. The point of drawing I think is making something you want to happen happen on the paper. For me that's the big draw. You made whatever the hell you wanted to see happen happen. Regardless of how it looks it's there. Try thinking out where your issues skill wise lie. I think my issue was that I never really developed the ability of studying. I always just wanted to do the thing, drawing whatever, and I hoped to practice as I do it. Which means I do get drawings done but it's also horribly slow improvement. There's some but it's glacial. Find whatever it is that's slowing you down and maybe work on fixing it. Or just keep hobby-ing it. There's really no shame in that either.

I’m fine with just struggling and failing the rest of my life, even if I knew for sure it was impossible for me to learn. Maybe it’s penance for my sins.
