/beg/ and never critiqued before so take it with a grain of salt.
I think the head is a bit too small in general. The extended arm on top right also lacks the "back" of the arm (like in the bottom right) and the right chest muscle doesn't "portrude" from the torso. The right/extended arm's form is a bit unclear to me as well. The ribcage usually counter balances the neck/head and pelvis, but on top right, the head's tilt matches the ribcage's tilt, which makes you lose that "end of ribcage" portrusion on the right side of the torso.

Bottom right drawing i think mostly looks fine, but the spine's bend is a bit ambiguous/deflated. The neck leaning forward is good but past that, the upper back's bend i think is a bit weak and the lower back bend is not really "there". The right side buttock also appears deflated/2 dimensional. You might want to start drawing the sacrum as an "in perspective" triangle wedge to also help you with buttocks orientation from the back.

The left's right/bended upper arm also doesnt make sense to me, but that might just be me. I think it should be bending away to be on the side or even behind the torso, which means it should be covered or partially obscured by the chest muscles and/or the ribcage's side. It has the same thing i mentioned where the head and ribcage tilt is the same.
That's all i can think of, hope it helps.

Finally stopped drawing mannequins and started drawing faces. It the second day of this new routine but I hope to build the muscle memory to start incorporating them into my regular sketch sessions, I even started drawing clothes on my babes.

setteidreams will be a big help for me. specifically the H.o.t.d resources. I love Shōji Satō and Masayoshi Tanaka's drawings a lot.

yeah, the lines he's drawing actually has a function and the brow ridge isn't so much an "m" shape. The line in the middle is for you to check your symmetry, look at your ears. Try to keep your features in the same perspective with the head as a whole.

He draws fast and a bit sloppy to get his point across quickly and you shouldn't adopt that habit. Extra lines will confuse you, take your time and aim for clarity not beauty or perfection.

Haven't drawn in a week. Getting back in to it with studies.

I think I fucked up the size of his head as the most glaring error here, but also in general the subject is a little too muscular and wide, the perspective on the torso and legs is also different.

How would you set up a gesture for this? I feel like I'm just guessing at the placement and orientation of things, since it's a static pose. I'm new to gesturing and I feel that staggered standing poses are way easier to get a feel for.

My general process as a beg is
>Guesstimate head tilt
>Guesstimate the spine
>Eyeball the size and tilt of ribcage and pelvis shapes (egg, box, etc)
>Guesstimate a box with the perspective of the pelvis and the shoulders
>Guesstimate the appendage sizes by important points (wrist and elbow for arms, knee and ankle for legs) and mentally map them out (like the 90 degree triangle between the knees and extended leg's ankle)
>Guesstimate the connections between the 3 large masses (head, torso and pelvis) while paying attention to the general shape of the figure)
At this point of time i usually run out of time and cant properly finish the arms and legs so i just quickly try to capture them in general.
I think it's also important not to get too chaught up in fixing a mistake you've made because you can end up redoing it over and over again, basically wasting your time.

IC and beg morale all time low after yesterday.
Verdict: time to draw

This takes too long to make. I'll have to switch to a simpler art style if I want to increase productivity.

did a study with both pencil and then marker
used the pencil lightly to draw everything, then the brush tip to do the heavy lines, then the fine tip for everything else, and then lastly the brush tip for an outline

You have a horizontal bias. Some people have a tendency to make figures too long, some make them too wide, some even have a bias towards a particular corner of the page. If you compare the drawing to the reference you can see she's longer and leaner in the photo. This will end up applying to the face and head too since you're balancing it against a wider body. If you know you have a bias when you draw you can self correct, just keep it in mind.

If you have difficulty with something, use books and courses to study it specifically.

It's the same reason you're supposed to limit how much you copy other artists in the beginning. When you're learning it's very easy to pick up mistakes and bad habits that you'll have to unlearn later if you even realise it. AI tends to get things wrong in more insideous ways than humans as well. It's bad data, basically.

If you have sufficient knowledge and competence to catch and correct every mistake then you can use whatever you want. Most people don't though.

its not hard to know what to fix, when i do studies i overlay on the ref and check my mistakes. (dont worry, i have a video of drawing this hand too in case anyone will say its traced)

When I do fast sketch, I tend to want it to be quick and easy, to flush out things I want and don't want and then I trace. Sometimes I trace over photos, over other people's art, over pose, sometimes I even use abstract shapes. It depends on what is needed. And then I trace again. Tracing is a tool.
