>>7655599a real question rises up from this truth.
Is it fine for an artist to change their style to fit the story theyre telling, or should they stay in their lane for the sake of marketing themselves?
There have been muscisians who take on other projects that are out of their usual genre they're known for. The quality is decent, but it never lands as well as what they're known for.
Is it likely because to sell it, you have to be authentic? People will buy goth music from a goth because they live and breath that genre, but if they try another genre, it will be seen as pandering, because they are not of that tribe.
As an artist, this hurts. You can't venture out of what people know you as, because it will come across as dishonest. ruining both what you have established, and what you're venturing into.
As the bible says. "One can not slave for two masters."
