🔍
Fluxxo - Tough choice. I liked both entries, but I enjoyed Fluxxo's wacky and colorful style and the end in which he travels with Needle.
Ellie - Both had a very similiar style but I found Ellie's entry better.
Gretchen - While I enjoyed the brutality in Dizzy's entry, the Gretchen one was sexier.
Melody - I liked the dynamic of the characters and the interactions between her and Speedrun, plus the dark ending with Clovis.
Atta - The Zehya game was pretty fun but I enjoyed Atta's comic a bit more, maybe for the nude Atta. Both were entertaining to me.
Scarymovies - The art, the horror references and the woman with the Junji Ito expression... everything was perfect.
Ash - I liked the art and story more, plus Giggles gets a happy ending.
Toabyak - Adel getting smashed by a stone got me.
Smoke - I like the charm that Smoke's entry has, the Cursedtome, Dea's reflexion(?) The Ending makes me think of the scene with Ganon in Zelda: Wand of Gamelon.
Nio - I enjoyed her comic a bit more.
Leo - I liked both entries but I think Leo's ending was kinda funny, beating Kell to the ground and then asking himself if he does the right thing.
Leon - Really love Leon and the cartoonish style here. He won my heart.
Hemma - Hemma's art did it for me.
Berno - He's such a badass and he gets to clap Atta. He gets my vote.
Ignatius - Funny scenes, beautiful pages, Iggy gets my vote.
Fishimote - Bakutsu's entry was a bit short. I liked the humour of Fishimote's.
Houndclops - Found it more fun, also Marv appeared.

hot girl i vote

>>7659659Anon. I hate you.
I hope I´m not being too harsh...
>Chariot Duel
+FLUXO WINS+
Fluxo's entry had chaos but with a purpose (even if it's just a prank) so it´s better for me than the "chaos for the sake of chaos" from Needle´s entry.
Both excel at drawing, but Fluxo's is easier to read, clearer. I share Needle's desire to rape the squirrel.
>Baboon Attack
+MELODY WINS+
Hotter girl, abusive relationships, Midori getting pulverized, Melody´s was a better comic overall. Speedrun´s had two good
jokes but that´s it.
>Desert
+BERRY WINS+
Berry´s despiction of Investigator was funnier even if her comic wasn´t entirely a comedy. The "a weapon to surpass 9/11" sold me on it.
It had also a pretty cool fight. I wouln´t want my girl to go against her, she's... strong.
The joke about biting Verno's nipples was REALLY good, but that´s it.
>PHARAOH
+SCARYMOVIES WINS+
Clovi´s started better but I didn´t feel the ending that much. I suppose he didn´t know how to beat the cat, a victim of a weird match up.
Scary´s started quite weak but it got really good once the carnage started and I like how everyone but Clovis got murdered so he had to
live with his fuck up.
>PYRAMIDS
+MARV WINS+
I didn´t understand Jun-ho´s comic, the ending to be exact.
Marv´s was a nice shitpost and he has good taste in waifu.
>Snake Pit
+GIGGLES WINS+
Ash´s entry was beatiful visually and had a hearthwarming feeling to it. Ash is really pretty, a very well designed character. That´s important.
But you can´t win against Giggles´ ending. You just can´t, man. Nope, not at all.
>Cursed Tomb
+SMOKE WINS+
Dea´s stuff is always intersting but it was unfinished so Smoke wins by default.
I love retarded characters that get the better of people so I´m going to obviously love Smoke, the goodest of girls that helps her
rival while being cute and dumb.
>>7660075>Mummies+NIO WINS+
A decent shitpost against a pro with a superwaifu is an unfair matchup, but that´s what we got. Sorry, Coppers.
Nio´s entry also had Imoteph. It was not as funny like when Scary added him it but for someone with one less week, it´s impressive.
>Sandstorm+LEO WINS+
I have no strong feelings for any of them in specific but Leo wins because gay stuff is just not my thing so Kell´s is not enough for
me.
Leo´s entry had a pretty cool but unfinished fight and that´s pretty good.
>Golden Scarab+LEON WINS+
I have a hard time understanding what´s going on in Diesel´s entry while Leon´s is clear and entertaining with a lot of fun stuff like
in that old cartoon about cars with the laughing dog.
>Valley of the Kings+IVY WINS+
Just clever, funny and finished. I like leotards.
>Tahtib+HEMMA WINS+
I was curious about Savage Henry´s savagery and Hemma´s entry had the more savage Savage Henry so I´ll vote for that one.
>Crocodile´s Nile+BERNO WINS+
I found both of them equally good so it´s really hard to decide. I´ll choose Berno because he´s the coolest of the two.
>Anubis Trial+ANNA WINS+
I preffer Anna´s approach, killing the beast was a more ingenious way to solve things.
I did not particulary like anything from Marox´s entry. The art was amazing but I´m just not feeling it, add that I´m not fond
of gay stuff. Also Anna there wasn´t really pretty, I like pretty Anna. It´s a style choice but not of my liking.
>BTFO Medjed+N377 WINS+
I still don´t understand what was Gilroy´s entry about. Sorry, I must be too stupid to understand but it would be nice to read
something less abstract. He was made of balls or something, that´s all I got. That kind of style must be really cool for single images, not for a
whole comic.
N377 showed Medjed get BTFO´d in a clear way and that´s enough for me. Congratulations, bub.
>>7660080>Dune Surfing+IGNATIUS WINS+
Jugglejack´s stuff was perfectly okay. She just defeated her opponent without stressing so much. That was so her, that´s good but not great.
But Ignatius try harded it. He deserves the win.
>Scorpion King+KELLY WINS+
Kelly´s was funnier, she LITERALLY became the tomb raider, had a savage fight with The Rock only to discover she was just a silly
fox all along. That´s sick character developent.
Scarlet´s ending was not entertaining and there was no character developement.
>Sunboat Race+FISHiMOTE WINS+
Fishimote´s entry had a benis :D boat penetrate an baginna :D boat. That´s enough to beat Bakutsu.
I´m not against short entries but Bakutsu´s didn´t have any particularly outstanding.
>Stop Yakub+HOUNDCLOPS WINS+
I didn´t feel anything for any of the two entries. It was a hard one, I don´t blame you, guys.
I know that everyone is going to vote for Huang because he´s got a thicc lady so I´ll vote for houndclops
just to be a contrarian.
>SlavesGoblin guy got autogold. Good for him. I may make a review for him tomorrow.
Tell me if I´m missing something QM. I´ll make a last drawing tomorrow to validate this last post.
Sorry again, if I´m too harsh.
>>7660080AHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA Holy shit I laughed too much at this
>>7660087>Goblin guy got autogoldYou got it mixed up, Lord Ax'ppos got the gold by default because Mendianon was too stupid to not to post his entry itt AND on Discord only

>M4tron: Well, I believe that Round One met my expectations, exceeded in some parts. Now’s the voting period where everyone’s fate is decided.
>Debbie: You said it, M4tron! I’M SO GLAD ITS OVER. Any highlights of the round?
>M: Well…unfortunately, I think you were right about Scary Movies and Clovis. I had underestimated that cat. Quite the matchup it was between the two.
>D: Ivy got herself out of her situation pretty creatively, I’d say with Mara.
>M: Also, N377 didn’t even feature Gilroy in his entry. A big mistake.
>D: But that got fixed! Oh, I really thought that Zehya and Atta made some bold plays on their parts. Seems like a fallout is inevitable. Sad!
>M: But it seems the princess’ is not afraid to bare herself in her ambitions.
>D: Other contestants seem to find ways to work together though.
>M: Ash and Giggles seem to be able to cooperate enough. Good that they found camaraderie in each other.
>M: How Marox handled Anubis was interesting, but I also appreciate that Ana was able to take care of the problem with Marox too in her entry.
>D: Some don’t have the luxury of cooperation. The cops had the upper hand with Midori, but never expected Nio to pop into the game like that.
>M: It must be quite the upset for the two. I hope they’re upset.
>D: What did you think about the Festival of Min?
>M: Hm. I think Gretchen has the upper hand, personally. Getting Dizzy turned into a regular rabbit was a creative choice.
>D: If Dizzy is stuck in her form forever, at least she is spared from the horrors of this tournament!
>M: Deb?
>D: I’ve seen some truly messed up stuff in my career as a reporter, M4tron, but I wasn’t exactly prepared for the amount of depravity I had to go through.
>M: I see.
>D: It makes a woman want to ask questions about the universe. Marv…Caddi…Needle… Why are we here? Why are we alive? To suffer? Why me?!
>M: The contestants really put you through the wringer.
>D: And it’s only going to get worse from here! Yep!
>>7657995My apologies but this will be long. Please bear with me.
Chariot Duel (Fluxxo)
This battle is incredible, funny both did not really engage with racing chariots though.
Needle really nails that body horror Fluxxo is capable of doing and goes even futher with pushing the expressions and poses in his panels. Real bizarre but beautifully illustrated, Fluxxo feels pretty in-character too.
Fluxxo's entry however has a LOT. Like a lot a lot, it's so full of color, illustrated beautifully, and patented Fluxxo insanity that is both high octane and bizarrely chill. There's also a very interesting humanizing moment between these two fellas I really like, it's so easy to get lost in first impressions and not get the deeper aspects.
Papyrus of Thoth (Ellie)
Another tough one, both artists have incredible grasps on illustration and form. Lovell's panel formatting is very unique and even cool with the split lines and incorporation of Lovell's form and negative space to frame the story, just a real shame it's unfinished and the handwritten text was difficult to read.
Ellie's was complete and really enjoyable seeing her shadow Lovell and compare her to Ellie's fabled mentor, I loved the contrast. 'Defeating' Lovell was also quite clever for a solution, and it's really nice the whole Coven cohesively plotting and working together!
Min's Festival (Gretchen)
I had no idea this one was going to be as raunchy as it was!
Dizzy offered an oldcrab cut and a funny plotline of being mistaken for a god while Gretchen worked in more for a direct competition for the festival. I think between the two my preference for Gretchen's comes down to Dizzy being constantly present and the humor being a touch funnier to me. I had a serious deep belly laugh with Gretchen’s entry. Dizzy’s got laughs from me but not that deep.
>>7660584Baboon Attack [RESTRICTED]
I think it’s fair to comment even though voting is clipped. Mel knows what I think about their comic given I watched the creation progress so I’ll spend time on Speedrun’s instead.
Speedrun I wish stuck more with the setting but the actual metrics for the round are technically met. There’s baboons and and attack, Melody and Speedrun are both present. But I don’t think the problem is the thin setting but more the sheer disconnect it feels from crab. Speedrun is part of a team, in a multiversal competition, but this entry feels more like a typical comic of his actual story he comes from.
Desert (Berry)
These two comics feel a bit different enough for me to have to consider specific metrics.
Head Investigator’s near instant willingness to shoot Berry instantly got a bark of a laugh from me. There’s a couple funny moments in your entry actually, but spaced by what I’d call questionable shots (like the roaches or HI mutilating Berno, both felt a bit extreme). Lots of typos in the text.
Berry’s entry has an ambience I really enjoy and it’s consistent in its storytelling and its jokes. Berry’s also so damn cute when she’s vulnerable too, and you made shots where HI is real intimidating and fucking cool.
Temple (Zehya)
Difficult to vote for. Zehya’s game is impressive and quite fun but Atta’s entry has that incredible twist that spikes it up in my eyes by capitalizing on crab activities that happened before the tourney even started.
Zehya winning the battle but losing the war in her entry no matter if you ace or fail is a nice touch, as is the brief examination into the Coven dynamics. Atta’s is more personal but her domination over weak-willed Zehya is fascinating to watch. Ultimately I’m content to save the poisoning twist for later because Zehya’s entry is truly impressive to me (if anyone contrives means for their characters to know about being poisoned that have no means to divine that I’m judging you so hard)
>>7660586Pharaoh [RESTRICTED]
G’s comic?
It’s peak. G’s art is delicious and pulpy, like this orange juice I’m drinking right now. He included ALL of Xenomania, and plans upon plans Clovis in a tower of keikaku that fell apart due to Clovis’ biggest weakness in that his team will reject his leadership and direction because of his lacking morals and asshole attittude is so on point it hurts. Even barring a conclusion in some ways I actually prefer Clovis left alone with such a massive failure on his head. Sometimes the agony of survival is a deeper pain than a quick bite of death.
Pyramids [RESTRICTED]
Marv’s comic is really hilarious, but his creator is a man of great comedy. The running joke of Marv blowing shit up in the distance lands for me, as does Marv getting squished by the larger alien that appeared to make the pyramid for him. Both entries feel like they concede the idea pyramids were not made by humanity which I do find pretty funny.
Snake Pit (Ash)
It’s very charming that the two in either comic work together rather than stand opposed. Giggle’s entry is cute and feels a little more desolate than Ash’s, while Ash has a strong sense of action and motion. I think Ash’s was more compelling and really played with showing off both Ash and Giggles’ skills to get out of their situation.
>>7660589Duel (Toabyak)
It’s very funny both end the duel through underhanded attacks not actually associated with the duel itself.
Adel, I think it was smart color-coding the text, because a lot of crabs I do think have difficulties or don’t even want to bother reading. It helps with accessibility! But I notice you use passive voice, things like ‘can be seen holding’ instead of ‘held’ to match a past tense descriptor which causes I think distance and pause in scenes you probably want to pop a bit harder. Passive voice is hard to ignore and writing improves significantly by avoiding it. Likewise keep attention on what tense you’re writing in and keep it consistent. Content wise I get a lot of it, I play ygo!
Toabyak has much stronger drawings and its pretty funny, I like the joke YGO cards and just how expressive you make Adel, her faces are really good in this.
Cursed Tomb [RESTRICTED]
Dea’s coloring is really great, I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting much from her just by judging the pre-R1 art but I’m glad to be proven wrong. There’s a lonely atmosphere to the entry I like and the rendering for the first half is great. I think, though, building up all that atmosphere didn’t pay off given the second half was severely unfinished in comparison.
Mummies [Nio]
I’ll say it here, this is such an unbalanced match because of Midori dropping out.
That said for the time the cops got they pulled off a nice and funny comic. I love the cops, and I like the continuity between them here and Fluxxo’s entry claiming the title ‘SPACE COPS’. The text is a bit hard to read though.
Nio’s entry is so dynamic and fun, and I’m delighted by the inclusion of Imhotep (again the second time I’ve seen him, I like really the Misfits continuity between their entries).
>>7660593Sandstorm [Kell]
This one was kind of close for me but I had to tip to Kell. The animation work on Leo’s half was good but visually the comic was disconnected and ended up sacrificing what I think would’ve been important contextual scenes to really say what was intended.
Kell’s comic had good humor and I think I like the characterization more with Kell and Leo (no homo though) (maybe onesided homo tho) but Leo doesn’t come off as a jerk and the sandstorm plays a pretty good part in forcing the two to take shelter.
Golden Scarab [Leon]
Ultimately I feel like Diesel Junkie’s entry while a bit readable was also really rough and hard to follow occasionally, a stark contrast with Leon’s very clean and wonderfully charming comic. The cartoonish antics of the two racing is super fun.
Valley of the Kings [LOCKED]
I know voting doesn’t matter but I would’ve voted for Ivy if I could, the entry was very dynamic and fun to read. Wonderful experience. Mara’s entry was followable and I don’t want to diminish the effort put into it but Ivy’s incantation was a bit off (since I think it has to all be i words?) and I wasn’t as engaged.
Tahtib [RESTRICTED]
Henry’s entry has good action and poses but I am a bit surprised how relatively gentle he is with Hemma compared to the expectations I had with him and his description as being particularly violent. Maybe Henry has a softer side I wasn’t anticipating? Or maybe he secretly likes Hemma ouuououo :3
Crocodile’s Nile [Berno]
A bit of a difficult choice because I really like Time Warrior’s entry (the dialogue I think is stronger than Berno’s) and the golfing angle is a lot of fun but I think the crocodiles are utilized way more and better in Berno’s entry.
Berno’s style is really appealing, I love the way he uses the dark inks to illustrate his pages. Absolutely impressed with this man’s grindset to win the Attabowl too.
>>7660596Anubis Trial [Ana]
You know this was actually tough for me. Marox’s entry is beautifully rendered and the story is pretty solid but I liked Ana’s very literal application for the test, even including a showdown with Ammut! The characterizations are fun in both and for Marox I did like Anubis’ son and the use of the message app textboxes showing audience opinions about the show.
Sphinx [LOCKED]
In today’s episode of The Author’s Barely Disguised Fetish!
Lol I’m kidding (a little), but these both are undeniably horny entries. Ririna has a lot more content and the choice for /dbg/ posting got me a laugh, mostly because my friends rotted my brain with all those memes from the generals. I think Ririna also has more solid drawing chops, used in very interesting ways, lol. Caddi I think I saw more BDSM work in progress shots than specifically anything else, even defeating Ririna was unfinished.
BTFO Medjed [N377]
I honestly have a hard time making sense of Gilroy’s art, it’s very messy and hard to interpret sometimes. N377’s was clean and easy to understand, and he quickly rectified the problem of not showing his opponent before the round ended. I think next round he’ll really be locked in, and I did like the humor of this comic given I had a sensible little chuckle.
Dune Surfing [Ignatius]
It’s just totally radical man. Ignatius’ entry is brimming with so much life and energy, like a scene cut from a movie in the 2000s about snowboarding with clowngirls through OSHA hazard zones. Jugglejack’s entry was crisp and the art style as always super wonderful to look at, I liked how Jugglejack used Ignatius’ own tendency to show off to also be his downfall with cracking the glass pillar but I really think Ignatius’ entry just had a lot more to enjoy.

>>7660598King Scorpion [Kelly]
Scarlet’s entry was colorful and I honestly think a huge step up from last year’s performance from this crab, honestly a good job, though Kelly’s I found really enjoying. Kelly has great humor, and rendering THE Scorpion King from the Mummy 2 (man there’s a lot of the best Mummy movie references this round) and I like the shot framing a lot.
Sunboat Race [Fishimoto]
Bakutsu really only dedicated one page to the sunboat race while the rest was just arriving to the challenge, overall a very short entry. Fishimoto lovingly celebrated the round challenge and theming with incredible gusto. It was an actual delight reading Fishi’s entry, and I full belly laughed at least twice while doing so.
Stop Yakub [Huang]
Very close between these two, and difficult for me to choose! I ultimately settled with Huang for story reasons. The idea he came up with Huang being a surrogate father to Yakub to offset the villainy he could induce in the future was cute, and showed off Huang’s kindness as well skill (and perhaps even his craftiness given the explosion at the end there). Houndclop’s entry was super good too and like I said this was insanely close to vote for me, both of you guys treated the other pretty respectfully.
Slaves [LOCKED]
I think it’s a shame this one is also locked from voting, it would’ve been a close vote from me if it was free to pick. Both artists stepped up with their work compared to last year, with improved typesetting and a pretty cohesive story from Ax’ppos and wonderfully rendered drawings of both characters in Menachemendele’s entry. I still am not sure who’d I vote for if it was open, but I keep thinking about the plagues sequence and Menachemendele hugging Giggles at the end of his entry. Probably would’ve picked that!
And done, glhf

Scarymovies
These entries were just great for their own reasons. Clovis' entry delves into the setting really well and executes a simple idea while also showcasing a softer side to Clovis. Scarymovies' entry is a visual treat and I like the TV powers. The entry veers off the prompt and doesn't really explore pharaoh stuff, and although that could have been explored in the final parts of this entry they weren't in the entry we got. But the roundabout ways of Clovis trying to win against Scarymovies anyways and the sheer aura of the cat wins it over for me.
Kell
I prefer the fight in this comic by what it does to the story it tells. I like the cutaway shots to the British archaeologists, and the humor lands all around, although Leo might be a bit sillier than he'd normally be. Props for the animation on Leo's entry and the coreography is impressive, but that's pretty much all there is to the entry.
Leon
I love the visual humor
Fluxxo
Both of these entries are truly insane and gorgeous, but I believe the visual flare that is Fluxxo's entry takes the cake for me.
Gretchen
I love Matt Junior and Hayes is kino.
Ellie
I like using the difference in power level as a contrast and it eventually backfiring on Lovell. The detailing is also insane here, good job.
Ash
The cooperation between contestants here is more fleshed out and more of the entry is dedicated to the snake pit itself.
Ignatius
I like how the abilities and tools of both contestants are showcased here, and the two bonding during the race is also nice.
>>7661459Zehya
The conflict starts out slover than in Atta's entry, but I think it is built up perfectly. The entry makes me want to see more of the two. The payoff in Atta's entry is bittersweet and nice, but I prefer the tension and intrigue in Zehya's entry. My X key hurts.
Hemma
Hemma you crazy man. That boy needs help I tell you what.
Derrick & Geoffry
The police humor just lands for me.
Houndclops
The humor and action is great, I think both contestants have a more balanced presence in this entry too.
Smoke
I love Smoke and the introspection by 2-3-A is sweet.
Melody Valentine
The action is slick and both contestants are great fun here.
Toabyak
Adel's entry is longer but I think Toabyak's entry manages to use the characters better. It's short and sweet.
Berno
The art is just plain beautiful. Both entries have great characterization, the Time Warrior's a bastard in both and Berno's crass, although I like the goofier side of him in his entry.
Fishimote
The fish learning to fly is just glorious

I really bit off more than I could chew with my entry, but I'm glad I manage to send something rather than nothing, let alone improve the ways I've usually draw (lighting, shading, experimenting), so cheers to a better Round 2 either way.
Here's my votes: (discounting team members and their opponents)
Part 1
Tathtib: Hemma
-Hemma's entry felt more coherent as a story thant Henry's entry, really enjoyed reading it through the pages without getting lost in order, also the climax was brutal.
Sphinx: Ririna (Caddi was too late)
-As much as I'm not into Ririna's uh... eccentric tastes, I have to admit, the entry left a more lasting impression that Caddi's entry, most in how batshit and off the rails it went, especially towards the Hercules reenactment. Also Caddi's entry was sent too late, so automatic vote : P
Golden Scarab: Leon the Lizard
I like Leon's entry more, because it went wild with the idea of racing towards a thingamaijg, and crammed in many silly obstacles and gags that made this whole thing more memorable, yet managed to reign it in a little to not feel bloated or disjointed.
Anubis' Trial: Marox
-If you haven't noticed by now: I have a tendency of admiring entries that really excel at what they wanna be, either the storytelling, tone, plot, and I actually like Ana's entry cause of those, but honestly, Marox's (or Roxie's) entry just takes the cake for me, seeing his journey through out the pages, trying to spare his life for the rest of his pals, seeing Anubis' son was cute being less of a menacing god and more just a nice guy dreaming to be a idol artist (nice reinterpretation of egypt's mythos btw), and the gay kiss was pretty funny, it's really how the plot and the character interactions really gel together to make a pretty heartwarming entry, and with how long this review has gotten, it's obvious this was one of my favorites of R1, Marox-Anon, you have my respect.

>>7662198Part 2:
BTFO Medjed: Gilroy
N377's entry felt pretty disappointing for me at first, like a non-sequitor that barely relates to the round (foreshadowing moment), Gilroy's on the other hand, despite the chaotic art style, manages to just do the task of taking down Medjed and N377 just fine, takes a second read to comprehend the flow, but when it clicks, it clicks, also the hole joke is hysterical.
Valley of the Kings: Ivy
I like Mara Kuja's entry, it's does the story pretty well, and the ending makes me giggles, but Ivy's entry fleshes this premise out to feel more like a traditional story, with more to enjoy, also the art style's nice :P
Chariot Duel: Fluxxo
This one was a hard vote, I like both entries, and Needle's entry really honed in the chaos of both characters well, but Fluxxo's entry felt more complete storywise and it felt wholesome for a killer clown to promise wishes for all his team.
Crocodile's Nile: Berno
Got not much to say about this one without repeating myself, I just like Berno's entry more, the character interactions are pretty nice, the art style inmmaculate, and the rivalry was well handed, also Atta is bae in his entry (TW's style was not made for her, I giggled ironically xd)

🔍
>>7662227Part 3
Dune Surfing: Ignatius
Same as the Chariot Duel, I like both Entries, but I'd vote for Ignatius because of how well executed it all is, the utilization of fire and sand to make glass (something I found interesting in Kell's entry when introduced), Iggy and Jack's dynamic is pretty cute and funny, and how more involved M4 and Debbie are as commentators without making them punching bags like other entries made this the winner for me.
Min's Festival: Gretchen
Dizzy, I like your entry, and still rooting for you, but ngl, I like Gretchen's entry more, the way it handles the setting and its characters is so brilliant yet so obvious, it felt satisfying to read, the way Gretchen used a censorship prayer against dizzy is so hillarious it made this whole comic, also animal dizzy is cute lmao
Sacred Temple: Atta
I liked how Zehya took a leap and made a VN out of this round, but the twist and overall story that unfold in Atta's round is just so more brilliant for me, much like the soul spell, I can't disobey it.
also kinda have a bias for babes like her, so the game is rigged lol
Baboon Attack: Melody
Speedrun entry is what I foreshadowed earlier, a non-sequitor that flew and didn't make much impression, sucks though, was really looking forward to it, Melody's on the other hand is immaculate, the whole conflict with Clovis and Mel is very heartbreaking and well done, I like how Mel's arc is setup and developed for this round and very much looking forward to seeing how it ends in the next two.
Papyrus of Toth: Ellie
I like Lovell comic on it's concept, but in execution it feels messy at the end (much like mine ;_;) Ellie's on the other hand felt more smooth narratively yet packing inmense detail on it's panels, the dynamic of Lovell just farting through the trials and Ellie wanting to prove herself and not feel far behind Lovell. also Hemma x Ellie ftw
>>7662258Part 4:
D-D-D-DUEL:
I am a crab, and thus I cannot read
(I had a hard time getting used to reading Adel's novel, as well done as it was, so I would choose Tobyak's entry by default, but it's nothing against Adel, it's a fault of me not reading books much.)
Pharaoh: Clovis
I liked Clovis' story more, it showed that Clovis despite being a bigot towards furries and can be very cold on the outside, still has a heart and can be empathetic to those who can't fend for themselves, and very much disposed on calling out someone else's bullshit, another favorite of mine, also Scarymovies looks adorable in it.
King Scorpion: Kelly
I like both entries, despite not having much to say without repeating myself (already saying it twice lmao), but I prefer Kelly's story more, not to mention Kelly and Scarlet's chemistry is very cool.
Snake Pit: Ash
Ash's entry has a pretty good art style that's the cherry on top of a more cohesive narrative, I like how well Giggles and Ash's relation were handled to escape the pit, made me think they'd be best friends after this, also Giggles deserves a happier ending than the one in his entry, must be protected at all costs.
Sunboat Race: Fishimote
Easy pick for this one, Baku's entry felt unfinished not in the art department, but just that the rest of the story just doesn't exist, it ended abruptly, and I thought I fumbled my entry's conclusion worse.
Pyramids: Marv
Easy pick for this one: Marv's entry feels confident in its comedy, reading Jun-ho's entry feels more awkward in comparison, both entries' art are good in their own right though.

ScaryMovies:
Grim, well-put tone and my favourite, low use colour. Interesting to read as with SM you don't know what to expect next.
Clovis:
Humor-based, simple and fun to read. It is hard to implement a cat who once in a red moon goes berserk and I do feel like some things are not fully in line with how SM would behave, Clovis shows us the very type of person he is here.
No vote
Gilroy:
Just opening the page makes me feel like im reading Urbanus again. Horrible feeling, however, this is far more interesting and captivating compared to Urbanus. Harsh visuals for a harsh fight.
N337:
Doesn't do it for me. Despite the humor it falls due to lack of set-up. Perhaps it just reminds me too much of my own earlier entries.
Vote: Gilroy
Anna (&Illwill):
Very *Corny*, a nice flow in the panels, very easily readable (despite me being on the train). I have to say that it stole a grin or two from me and I liked that it was a joint effort, very cozy.
Marox:
Very clean, b/w and again, well-paneled. Even though Medjed made me laugh, twinkified (son of) Anubis is a crime. On one hand, I am very homophobic, on the other hand, the premise is pretty good.
Vote: Marox
Diana Berry:
The steady style of X we all know and love. Of course Marv's ufo shits the bed and he only has booze. AH SHIT THEY SHOT MARV. HOLY FUCK 9/11. AFGHANISTAN. I am wheezing on the train, goddamnit.

MARV IS LITERALLY ME, RETARDED! Again I am giggling like a mentally ill patient let loose upon the public. The button, the deadpan face, I love this shit. The fat alien ass. The obliteration of ones mind. A masterpiece.
Jun-hoe:
Man, this comic slaps me the same.
>refuses to let the alien on the horseI see, he is muslim
While I did laugh alot too, I feel like the ending is just a tad weak. Had it ended with either an unexpected punchline or a serious note, I feel it would be alot stronger.
Vote: Marv
Kell:
Clear visuals. Nice action. Admiral Pizza. References to history. Yaoi. To say that it is interesting would be an underestimate. I do feel like this is in line with previous works and there could be improvement on content. The final chapter does add yaoi, but I feel like it could have been used for an ending with more wow-factor.
Leo:
I am not a big fan of animations (after winning round 1 in crab 1 of course), though I couldn't remember why.
Now I do. I think that this animation detracts from the technical skill. It feels unfinished (obviously with the time given) and I'm left to wonder why this couldn't be a comic. The art isn't bad, but there are mistakes that just really stand out to me, where some anatomy just doesn't sit right. The fight, which should be the biggest dynamic thing, feels like it would have been better as a comic (yes, again) because in animation it just needs all the movements that you cannot animate in such a small timeframe. I don't know, I feel like this is not what I am looking for here.
Vote: Kell
Diesel:
Unrelated to the book Bullet Train right?
Anyhow. Making this comic wordless is a big risk. It is very clear what happens, it is nicely made, but there is no pazzaz in this comic, I miss some impact.
Lizard:
The story had alot of action, very goofy, and stroked the right snare.
Vote: Lizard
>>7662404Fluxxo:
A start that shows us what we can expect in terms of raw skill. Do not Bazinga again please. The clowns together is a fun dynamic. A very chill comic.
Needle:
With it being round 1, I get that the intro is not farfetched. I do admire the pure skill displayed with the atrocities made by the clown, but once more I miss a homerun. I miss the stakes, an ending that leaves me satisfried.
Vote: Fluxxo
Dizzy:
Coming out the gate swinging, colours and all. But then they get dropped and it goes into humor that either goes over my head or doesn't land for me. Except for the nutshot hehehehe. I feel like there could've been more.
Gretchen:
It was kinda corny, but the jokes actually got me, I have to admit begrudgingly.
Vote: Gretchen
Lacks:
Unfinished, hardly readable for my peabrain. Black and white. It is visually interesting, but it's not enough to salvage this being but a WIP
Ellie:
A style to match your opponent. A nice story, which goes into her own backstory and shows a tad bit of team dynamic. Also, at some point I expected yuri with how much Ellie was fawning over Lovell.
Vote: Ellie
Giggles:
I have read this comic at least 6 times by now. The ending always makes me laugh out loud.
Ash:
Ahem based department? Tradchad over here. Jokes aside, I had trouble recognizing it as trad, Mostly because the colours are alot more vibrant than I expect from trad. The art itself is really consistent and has a clear style. I like it and I am very happy to see Giggles being mute coming back here.
Vote: not allowed
>>7662408Ignatius:
Lawrence of Arabia reference? Zased. I, for one, really enjoy the expanding on the world around the tournament (despite me not doing it) and here we have not just the team, but also other contestants and the announcers. The general feeling of the comic is a cozy wacky comicbook which I do enjoy alot. I am biased, I know. I do miss the colours, which are evidently your strong suit when you look at the last 2 pages.
Jugglejack:
OH I'M JUGGLEJACKING OFF OOOOH. That out of the way, I like the b/w style here, the visuals are very clear.
However where is the dunesurfing? I am dissappointed, because it could've been so much more.
Vote: Ignatius
Atta:
Where is the yuri!? Joking. Or am I? Anyhow, interesting story with for me an unexpected turn and a set-up for next rounds.
Zehya:
Stop making the girls so sexy, I'm trying to hit X, not get an erection. I however, am very pleased with the set-up of your visual novel.
Vote: Zehya
Hemma:
Beautiful b/w and setting the stage. Very good incorporation of your opponent
Henry:
Black and white once more, what a beautiful day. I think you could've given the surrounding world more exposure, or shown team dynamics a tad bit more. Action was pretty good.
Vote: Hemma
Cops:
Poor lads, crushed by an entity they could not have seen coming. I do like the general imagery. It expands the world well, the dynamic between the teams too. You might want to sit and grind fundamentals, because I did enjoy the writing alot.
Midori & Nio:
I love this goofy style at the start, genuinely sad that they didn't make it :(
I do like the style, it feels like something I would've read while on holiday in the Robbedoes/Spirou.
Vote: not allowed

Vote: Scarlet
Houndclops:
Alright, Yakub gets a grin out of me, especially with mr gadget talking about him. The fuckin ending got me laughing too. It's pretty good, the art is consistent and the paneling is very easy to follow.
Huang Yuejing:
I feel like you could have made it more clear, it's like I'm missing some information at the start, which hampers the enjoyment of the rest.
Vote: Houndclops
Smoke:
Mainly cute, really. I like the choice to only use colours here and there to give extra signification to certain things.
2-3-A:
I did like the start, giving an exposé to the setting, but in part two, things got too hard for me to follow and I kind of tuned out.
Vote: Smoke
Speedrun:
The comic lacks the context of the setting and a real story to fellow here, I'm sorry.
Melody:
It gives context to the setting, it has story, action and one of many of Midori's deaths. Yeah, it's pretty good I'd say.
Vote: Melody
Adel:
CRABS DON'T READ. DON'T MAKE ME DO IT! I don't write, I used to read like uhhh... Nijntje. It's not really my taste and I have but little feedback to give it, due my lack of knowledge.
Toabyak:
Tradchad, even if it's a little rough. Perhaps there is a way to set your phonecamera to document mode, so it can capture it better. I feel like this is more of a round 3 entry than round 1, due it being a straight up duel.
The Time Warrior:
I like the art. Panelling clear. Characters look good. It shows some team dynamic. I like this comic.
Berno:
I love this style. The use of black, showing harsh shadow/light, it's great. The panelling is easy to follow and it shows how to team acts.
>>7662411Fishimote:
A penisjoke, inserted with appropriate timing. Amazing. The art makes me think about the times I used to read manga under school time and the art teacher would beat my ass for it. Verbally of course. The art in b/w is clear, it is expressive. THe world is expanded upon, it's great.
Bakutsu:
I feel with how much there is drawn, there is either a lack of will or a lack of respect. It shows the physical place, but no other teammembers, commentators or DM. Even the opponent has but 1 panel. I want to see more effort.
Vote: Fishimote
Caddie, Ririna, Ax'pos, Ivy en Mara will get feedback once I have some time alone again.

Having read what comics I could, excluding the ones involving my team, I have decided:
the Fluxxo comic has the most vibrant colors.
the Berno comic has the best black and white art.
the Clovis comics have the best story, and good art.
the Hemma comic has the best action.
and the Marv comic has the best humor.
I ran out of time Ill try and post full reviews later, sorry guys
