I refused it because it doesn't work. I don't want to spend years just drawing objects and shit that I don't actually want to draw. I also need help with my observation skills but I don't know what to do about that.
I want to make stories in a visual medium. All of the stories that I want to make would require a visual medium more than a literary one. It's impossible for me to actually write about any of the ideas I want to write about since they'd all fit something visual. I also want to draw things that I happen to be hyper fixating on. Robots, aliens, mecha, just anything.

My advice for it would honestly be Blender. You only need to either
1. go on sketchfab and find a decent train model, preferably not too detailed.
2. use something like smutbase's build a bod.

its the cool factor kind of art, your female anatomy is good and it's pretty crazy this is one of your first finished pieces, the women really are the highlight in a good and bad sense, the guy in the middle is drawn a lot simpler compared to the others. An important thing you want to consider with art is line weight, the lineweight of the character's on either side are similar but the one in the middle is using heavier lines which will look off, you can use line weight for things like foreshortening towards the camera, areas of attention and actual force/weight. you might want to think about lightening the thickness. That's the main critique, there's also the metal rendering on the gun, the red hair woman's left eye not adhering to the surface area of the face so it looks slightly off, and one of the brown girl's feet are messed up but I'm guessing you rushed that, the main dude's legs should show more form based on how he seems to be wearing jeans, you would want to show off the gesture of the legs especially with the knee shin connection, I can explain gesture in another post if you want. Other than that it's a good start

you should do a lot more character portraits and study some old school portrait artists, it kind of depends whether you're more of a painter or a drawer, might be hard to tell what you want if you're developing skills, if you're going to be doing a lot of painting then work on your value sense, a lot of the values in the art are flat, you need dark shadows to make it pop, marco bucci has a ton of videos on it and he's everyone's go to for learning how to paint. I'm not much of a painter myself since I'm more of a line artist so I can't really give any advice. What I can say is your face symmetry is off and that her shoulder melts into her trap muscle and clavicle bone. You should try a different expression next time and do something challenging, use refs for help, both drawing and real life examples

You can do either. If you don't own a tablet then start with paper and pen since it's virtually free. If you do decide to start with digital, try not to rely heavily on undo/transform/liquify or else it'll slow your progress. It's better to redraw something you've fucked up as a beginner.

a good way to learn is to not copy one for one but understand how things work in a certain way by looking at refs, like what folds appear when bending certain parts of the body, how muscles stretch and compress, how a limb looks from a certain angle, learning anatomy takes a long time, it's complicated and has varied layers of knowledge like understanding it's function. I'll try doing this, but I still don't know if it'll fix what I feel. I think my biggest problem is that I can't find what I draw to look good, even if other people say nice things about it. I look at other people's art, artists I like, and I feel like even as I improve, i'll never be as appealing as them. There's so many things about my art which I dislike, but when I try to stop doing them to try and look like the art I consider more appealing than mine, it seems like I regress my skill by months and months because it's what I got used to doing when drawing.

what i do is i start from one line that i draw in the same angle i see on the reference picture
in this case >>7663958 i started from the caps peak at the very top of the image, followed the top ouline of the hat, then i did the forehead, outer (left brow), left glass, nose shape, forehead lines, right brow, glass, ee, nose, crows feet, moustache, that's where i got bored and the chin is too short, ear is too close to face, neck is too thin and i didn't adjust because i don't care about the image and you can see my strokes get progressively lazier
but there's no construction needed
same method works without a reference, you just make one line, typically a chin, then start drawing a perspective that looks appropriate relative to it

you should turn the light things to face a little away from the camera and position them to the left, to make the lighting around the puppet look more natural because i think it's very overblown currently with those light positions

4. the left chest that has light crawling upshould be in shadow from the left arm so try to figure that out

things like this are what you should train your eye for finishing this pic! those are the most egregious mistakes, you might be able to spot more that you can adjust if you want to

I apologize for my lack of clarity, more design would be better, I refrained from saying anything because I thought it may be from some game I didn't know of. Hello, anons, I am horse bones. I took some feedback and learned a great deal from my revised studies. The other anon was right, so I am going to focus on improving my sense of perspective without rigorous guidelines every time. I still don't know exactly how, but I shall figure it out eventually.

I focused more on the legs of the crab than the crab's body, because I was more interested in that. I had advice that I needed to focus more on developing the form when connected, rather than isolating parts and trying to Frankenstein them. In the next study, I shall push myself to draw things as a whole. Thumbnailing things next to each other is very helpful, so I shall also do that. I will be thankful for harsh criticism.

Sketching

Wanted to try extreme overhead perspective from imagination then just kept adding things to it. Dogshit composition. I think a bad drawing can be saved by a good composition, but bad composition can ruin any drawing. I have to do studies but for the first time just drawing is just fun. I finally escaped prebeg prison and can draw things that aren't schizo scribbles and I actually enjoy the process. I'll let myself just draw random stuff no matter how shit it ends up, for a while.

It's hard to study faces when they have strong expressions because everything moves. That being said, I place the horizontal line at the midpoint of the head for round-faced characters and use it to place the eyebrows, not the eyes. Following strict rules will give you the most basic and boring anime heads. You have to work your way up to being able to intuit where elements of the face ought to be. Copying your favorite artist a lot will ultimately yield way better results than being a construction goblin.

The more advanced you are, the less you care about strict guidelines, because you develop a sense of where things should naturally go.
Sticking too closely to construction lines can make your drawings feel stiff, and it might even lead to same-face syndrome over time. I do use guidelines, but I always do manual adjustments later.

I would suggest Michael Hampton's figure drawings over Morpho. Morpho's heads are reference materials; the purpose is to understand landmarks. You can reconstruct them from different angles, which is a good exercise, but if you try to draw like Morpho, then you will start to create Behelits from Berserk.

Moving my stuff around to make space I found an old sketchbook.
It was during may 2022 when the pandemic was still trying to come back and the factory I worked at was suspended and my uni classes became remote.
I found myself secluded and very tight in money because well my fucking workplace was closed so I wanted to use that time to learn how to draw.
While listening on the background to the droning of online classes playing on my laptop and a pdf of Loomis on my phone I started going through the book.
I never got any good. In the time anons here get really fucking good I barely got to prebeg.
Classes returned, I got my current officecuck job. It was back again to going out to wage at 7am and coming home to my appt from classes at 10pm for another 2 years.
Then I finished my degree and only had to wagecuck.

I would like to say that I didnt draw anymore but I would try to drawfag through the weekends and make some stuff when I come home tired.
I have come to terms with being permabeg. I just lack the eye and the spatial awareness to reproduce anything unless I am borderline tracing.
There is something wrong with me that cant be fixed. I cant even feel sad about it anymore.

Is just an habit. Just my way of drawing things. But I only do that when sketching and it won't look like that on the final version. Japanese genes and talent are really real, my heads are always either too narrow or too long, my eyes are too close to each other, no matter how I measure these balls, make the outline of the face, cheeks, I can't draw the head and face of Kuroneko normally... Sometimes it turned out well, but not the head or the face, but their part, when I just first draw the line of the eyes and eyes and then try to add the outline of the head, which spoils everything
