>>7680168 >It's much faster to draw basic 3D by hand. that really depends once you get into casting shadows and modeling light, using 3d becomes interesting again that's why gurney's imaginative realism ends up with him making IRL models / sculptures another advantage of using 3d / miniatures is letting you play around with the camera and see other views of the scene before committing to a painting, which might have been overlooked otherwise
I'm starting to consider the cheatpill. I'm turning 30 in a couple months and trying to learn art the "correct way" is seeming more and more like a fool's errand by the day. I have a couple project ideas that might not become realized unless I throw my humanity away. Sorry artbros, I hate AItracers as much as the next guy but I need to put my morals aside for this.
>>7680624 Referencing indicates having the image to the side and using it as a visual aid to get the proportions, perspective, anatomy, etc right, through getting a feel or using measuring techniques. Maybe what he's doing isn't tracing, but it's still drawing on top of something else. That said, the 3D models were made to be used by artists, so the reality is that he can do whatever the fuck he wants. It isn't infringing on anybody else's work.
>>7680120 (OP) Get on with the times. People now trace over AIsloppa

>>7680168 Not really. Drawing by hand is only faster if you somehow get the scene right first try. Once you want to start adjusting the scene a bit it'll end up taking the same time as using 3D. Using 3D takes more time than drawing manually happens when you fall into the 'trying to get the perfect 3D pose and angle' pitfall autismo

>>7680608 Correct. He trace over 3D. Does it make you sleep better anon?
>>7681274 I wasn't talking about the model itself, but the camera operation and the unoptimized feeling when manipulating the figure. Its just hard to get used to because my muscle memories with Blender and designdolls I constantly gets confused.
Go for it buddy. Our world rewards lying, stealing and cheating these days. It's why integrity and the pursuit of mastery are priceless. It's easy to pretend you made it, but you never really did. You only "made it"

>>7681364 What muscles? The figure is fully clothed. Making me question the credibility of this book
>>7681369 >What muscles? The figure is fully clothed. They probably mean the leg muscles, they're clothed but you can see the calf and quads. >>7681414 >the guide literally tells you to trace and learn as first steps No it doesn't it's just showing the difference between tracing and drawing, and that drawing is a game of looking at the reference for poses, shapes, and details instead of just tracing, that's why there's 2 paths in that pic you dumb nigga.

>>7681414 i don't understand the point of tracing it. you can deal with the proportions by counting heads and deal with the contours with knowledge of basic forms and anatomy
If I try to construct a pose, my art ends up looking dogshit. If I try to trace the photo, my art still ends up looking dogshit.
But I just eyeball it while directly drawing with no construction, it ends up looking pretty good.

>>7681364 this is really helpful but now the problem is finding good poses to draw. I don't want to draw someone just standing doing nothing, I need to be dynamic and creative to get likes.
>>7680120 (OP) >what you gonna do about it? lol, what a tough guy. Nobody cares. Cheat. Take Short cuts. Don't learn. I'm perfectly content with that.

>>7682755 yeah the fact that nobody gives a fuck that all manga artists trace 3d models means nobody's gonna give a fuck when that happens for some reason people only seem to find it lazy when you trace other art

>>7680120 (OP) meh, i don't care also cheaters still have more dignity than nodraw niggers on this board

>that level of detail for the clothes Wtf, you don't even need to cheat for those easy ass positions. How hard is it to take the twenty seconds to rough it the figure? Send like way more effort to pull up the modeling software and pitch it perfectly every time

>>7680213 You have to draw cast shadows and light depending on how the clothing folds and the texture. Are you gonna model the clothing too lmao?
>>7683117 in the OP the model is used to give an idea of the overall proportions and then builds up on top, you could do the same with shadows, in which you get an idea of how they behave on the bigger forms and make up the smaller ones based on those. or if you want to go further just make your own references with real life clothes and models
>>7683384 That's the spirit. Don't get discouraged by all the external noise. This is the path to true greatness and mastery. This is how you keep your own unique expression while also becoming a better draftsman. Any other way will only result in producing mediocre work and losing ones passion in the long term.
