Web animations maybe? Since flash died, really animated and interactive websites died along with it, but now with animation programs such as rive or Figma animations.
It was also often suggested that illustration would become a lot more animated as we moved to digital, but I've never really seen all that much animation for digital mags or websites articles; I think it was just a pipe dream for some animators and illustrators.
If you're too far away from locations where animation studios are located, try going freelance. Smaller indie studios, particularly ones like (I'm seriously blanking on their names, so these are just guesses) Spindlehorse and Yadda, where they don't have enough people for practically any project they receive, so they contract per project.
Similarly, there's videogames, as they obviously need animators to make their animations, and while getting into a big studio may be unlikely, an indie studio would probably take a look at you at least.
