What is wrong with my tyler the creator potrait?
>decided to do my studies(keys to drawing page 92) with Tyler the creator
>have centerline
>have mid point
>used comparative measurements
>already corrected for an hour straight
>still looks like Tyler is off and going to wear my skin

its VERY hard to draw a realistic portrait from the front. You can't just draw what you see like some people will tell you, because the human face has lots of curves and hills that can only be seen with shadow.

You have to learn how to draw each part of the face including the bones under the skin, but before you do that you can work on symmetry. If you draw guidelines to help you place the eyes and nose, make sure they're actually HELPING you, you don't have to do it exactly like the book, find however many guide lines you need to draw a balanced symmetrical face.

you dont need guidelines, you can just draw what you see. it is harder, but it is also more rewarding in the end. i posted this one in /beg/ a thread ago. OP obviously didnt draw what he saw even remotely, all of it is symbol drawing. just, open your eyes my man. concentrate and put some time into it. OP drew that in like 10 minutes tops. i took 2 to 3 hours or something

There is an entire tech tree on masturing your pencil just to be able to render like this, not even gettingi nto drawing the facial features correctly. OP needs to start at symmetry and training his eyes to make useful guidelines but he has to draw the guidelines first.

he could just attack simpler references before going into faces. comics or basic shapes like cups, glasses, bottles and fruit, not jumping the gun with people.

stop "symbol drawing"
once you learn to stop doing this and make looking a habit, even the drawings you don't meticulously observe and compare will look better
look into Keys to Drawing or Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
and if you're even more ballsy look into sight size and bargue drawing
i warn you, this means you will be spending more than 5 minutes drawing a single image

huh..... i mean, you werent so off in the end, thats one ugly monkey. but you still are. first off all, teh reference is pretty low res, you should always aim to learn from a big and clear picture. your has the skull skewed to the right, your nose lines are too pronounced, the irises too small and placed wrong, the beard isnt a line in the ref (thats completely symbol drawing) its all a manner of spending time and comparing everything. what you have in the OP, what you drew, can be used as a sketch at best, from there on out you take time with everything and try to correct it, obviously that would mean using your eraser, which is what EVERYONE does. a lot of the time you have to erase whole sections if you notice it doesnt fit, that means more work.

shying away from the work is what fucked you here, nothing else. you laid the foundation and asked where the finished house is, when you havent even started yet if i had to dumb it down

So I just need to tweak the parts that I symbol drawed? Tbh nearing the end of the drawing it was getting late so I just rushed the guy.

well you see, thats the main issue. these things take time. there is no instant gratification when it comes to creation

So do i just try to fix the portrait, redraw it or just find a new model?
Or do i move on to the next assignment?
Anonymous No.7698945
>>7698941
the latter two. find a new face. preferrably one with good, strong shadows. its easier when the shapes are visible

overlay your drawing over your reference so you can see how it's incorrectly measured then repeat, separate drawings of complex things into distinct zones of focus so they don't end up slanted, alternatively look at it in a mirror/a flipped picture so you can see how it's incorrect

Why do you guys even attempt to help people like this? It's obvious they are retarded or can't use their eyes. What's the point? Do you genuinely believe this person's going to read your advice and change anything? They can't even see what's infront of their face. Its just pointless

A box is much too complicated for a /beg/ to rotate in his head much less a head. A proper study of basic forms is needed.

flip the picture youre drawing from to avoid drawing symbols but draw what is there. theres this little rounded arrow on some devices or in your wind-blows viewer that rotates the image! almost like magic! now get on drawing
