絵文字を表情を描くことをCHAPTER1で解説していて、不慣れな人はここから始めるのが良さそうですね。
絵文字は最低限の記号で感情を表現していて、表現の要素がわかりやすい。
これをそのままアニメキャラに合わせ込んで描くことで表情が出来上がる。

CHAPTER3の内容が一番参考になりました。
キャラ性を強化した表情の付け方を解説していて、キャラ設定に合わせて表情に細かい変化を加えることで、感情がより強く表現できることがよくわかります。

本書を読んでも、描き方はなんとなくわかりますが、描けるようにはなりませんので練習は必要です。
CHAPTER1〜3で学んで、CHAPTER4の内容をひたすら模写する。
模写に慣れてきたら本書では紹介されていないキャラクター設定で表情を書いて練習するのが良いかなと感じました。

Anyone else have the problem that they just cant concentrate on video courses? Most of them feel so meandering and time wasting and the idea of sitting through 20+ hours of it while I could just flip through artbooks/observe from references while actually drawing feels so off-putting I just cant do them. It's definitely worth having if you're into landscape painting and like anime backgrounds. There's a lot of process pictures with tips on the side, big on technique but less so on theory. He also has some commentary on the films he worked on, very big on the human experience, talking a lot about how he tried to communicate things like how to make fire feel really hot.

If you've read his other books, it likely has nothing new to it (though it'd likely make for a new nice starting point, as fwap has aged in some ways).
