drawings comparisons/collections
Is there any collected work that compares the different methods of drawing/creating an image? I'm not talking about media (e.g. graphite versus charcoal), I'm talking about different methods of for example showing form, doing rendering, creating luminosity, etc. Pic related, it shows comparison of Caravaggio and Michelangelo respectively.

Bonus points if there is actual text and explanation given next to the images, even if this means only a few drawings are actually shown, I'd rather have a small selection of well explained drawings than a huge one without any.

(also I say "image" because the exact form or medium is less important, but I do prefer drawings).

I already found this, which is already very good, nice high res images with a pretty wide time span, though no commentary:

Just stumbled across this and thought about your open thread. Not exactly what you are looking for though.

It's a current exhibition and the link is the guide. No images included. You'd need to look them up yourself.

Nice, great find. I have access to them via my university. Manually downloading all files will take ages, so that's not really a solution, scanning all physical copies obviously isn't either, so I'll see what I can do, maybe I can put together some skript to collect them and upload them somewhere or whatever.

I don't get it, where are the comparisons? It's just a bunch of random drawings, I could've gotten that anywhere.

Maybe someone has uploaded them somewhere already. I haven't searched myself yet. Glad you like it. I was pretty baffled that I haven't heard of it before and can't wait to get my hands on them.

There are 60 years with 4 issues per year about master drawings - the exact topic you're interested in. I am so sorry for not having skimmed 240 magazines and spoon feed you the exact answer. Take it or leave it. sheesh

Are you really OP? If so, you're a moron. The exact link you provided yourself is the most random shit.

Calm your tits. I am asking anyone whether they're drawing useful comparisons from the collection OP has posted and other master collections, because collections that group subjects more closely would be more useful, at face value.

tits are calm now. I am as much interested in a thorough comparison as the next guy. There is just not as much material about these things. We all happy when we find good information - which is rare
