Does anyone one have any idea on how to make a living as an artist? I'm tired of working a 9-5, and I know I'm pretty good at drawing. What is the modern meta for becoming a working artist?

You have to make work that turns peoples heads. You cant make generic shit anymore. Either take the hard route and put out genuinely interesting ideas or become a stupid coomer and innovate in how fast you can speed run erectile dysfunction.

hahaha this is what I do at my Job! If it paid better I'd love it but that and the art itch has me searching for more.

Only education I could attain was an associates in graphic design. Only bright side is that I have a gig internship but idk if it will go anywhere.
The worst part about the retail jobs is having to talk to everyone. I'm 30 and have failed completely at life. My dad tried to convince me to go on disability/SSI for years but I wanted to prove him wrong and show that I was capable

I've been drawing since I was 6, I'd pmw but I have posted my art before a lot and don't want it attached to my retarded crying

i was recently thinking of hanging copies of my portraits around the town and just put my number on there and a small charging table. i'm not sure how high to go, depending on the style of the portrait like a stippling i might charge top dollar because they take so long.

I feel you with that. I don't talk to anyone at my shitty retail job because I don't want to be there, I think maybe if I amplify my suffering it will force me to try to change. I was super sad and hated my life at first but now I have good coping skills and still hate my life. I always draw on my lunch breaks and at home but making money off of this will require me to interact with the most obnoxious kinds of people.

You'll be more tired going hungry while watching everyone around you get tasty takeout meals and having a fun night. Just put yourself out there more and learn some business skills.

I met a guy at my shit grocery store job who was doing his physics homework, he was 32 at the time and his goal was to get a job teaching physics. Told me that every couple of years he saves up money to move somewhere else because life sucks so much... didn't really get that part until now.
