i tried ai stuff and i would spend like 12 hours generating the same girl over and over. i had stayed up 48 hours generating ai girls and jerking off before. it really wasn't healthy for me. but anyway i wanna actually draw now but it's pretty dang hard.

I’d recommend switching to vectors or 3d modelling. Moving handles around should be less triggering than messy nature of raster brushes.

now that you are diagnosed, you can now pick any drawing manual, stick to that drawing manual, then draw!

i can't even pick a drawing manual. i pick one and i immediately feel like i'm wasting my time and i could find a better one and go back to searching for stuff.

So how is that impacting your drawing?
Getting started with drawing usually works fine if you're just doing mindless doodling and having fun, but if you want to draw like artists you look up to, it's going to be really hard, regardless of what other issues you're struggling with.

There is no perfect drawing manual that'll magically make you a good artist if you follow it closely enough. It's about putting in the time and work and having some guidance to help you try out different things. You can read a few pages from one manual, follow it a bit, then try another, but ideally, you'll spend most of your time drawing, looking at references (whether photo or life) and drawing even more.
What do you even want to draw? Have you tried drawing it? What are your results? See anything that bothers you? Fix gradually, try drawing easier things and don't think you need to do everything at once, it's a process.

i wanna draw hot females and i guess animals. my results are hundreds of figure drawings and other stuff that show zero improvement.

I have OCD which ik is different, but both diagnoses have that aspect of overthinking yourself into doing absolutely nothing new. The way I do it is by just doing it, as with all anxiety-based issues. You stop yourself because your mind sends you tons of false flags: "what if I never improve? What if my style isnt within my control and looks stupid? How long does this take? What if I never pick it up and all of this is a waste of time?"
And then thats the spiral right there. You need to remind yourself that that's literally just your brain sending false flags because its chemically overactive. Just acknowledge those thoughts, but do it anyway. Allow yourself to draw shitty art. Even if its one figure drawing or anime trace per week, per month. In order to start, you have to dick around a LOT and learn to enjoy the process.

new Howie buzzword just dropped
Anonymous No.7741315 [Report]
You could try perspective heavy drawing. There's more of a "do this and it just comes out right" aspect to it that might be more pleasing than the objectivity and interpretation of other styles

You are too retarded to capitalize or distinguish AI art from human art, please don't try drawing

i have ocd so close enough but it's starting to feel impossible to get consistent we're too retarded anon... the perfect certain way is impossible, everything's overwhelming. maybe try getting medicated anon, that shit didn't work for me though. the thoughts and resistance are too powerful and overwhelming it's so over

Wouldn’t being ocd be at least neutral if not beneficial to learning a complex skill such as art? I mean you’re compulsively obsessed about things, why not be obsessed about art?

I swear every person I meet who’s a “perfectionist” or ocd can never get anything done. Please prove me wrong op.

Perfectionism is often crippling because perfect doesn't exist. Some people can chase it doggedly for years before it burns them out but often the inability to exert the control necessary for perfect destroys a person before the even started. Art is ultimately meaningless, and drawing doubly so and people whose real ulterior motive is to exert control over a creative process to make up for feelings of powerlessness find themselves wrestling with an amorphous blob that only slips more deftly through their fingers the more they try to squeeze

you don't choose your compulsions. if you're perfectionist, knowing you won't get practice perfect right away is good motivation to avoid that practice.
