Nerdrum has been painting since the 70's, and the stuff posted here is probably from the 90's/2000's, so I think it's safe to say it's not AI

I don't think it's even about his techniques, but more about his philosophy and theory around painting. Listen to his youtube channels (he's got 2 at least, Cave of Apelles and Odd Nerdrum), he says some really interesting stuff. Talks about composition, color theory, meaning and subject in painting. Stuff that nobody else says.

I've heard he makes the people staying at his place do some really weird shit for the privilege. Like he starts off with modeling for the other people, but then it gets more and more weird, you're posing with animals and other people, then by the time he goes off the deep end with guests you're too compromised to say no.
