I kinda want to try it one day. Though I'll probably get way over my head with it and start a project I'll never finish.

Same. I can’t wait until comics make a huge comeback. They go way too under-appreciated.

I'm a great animator, but I can't find a reliable source to get ANY fucking flash software from, and I refuse to grind myself to fucking dust on a subscription for some shit that's gonna crash anyway. So I'll stick to my shitting fucking free software made ass quality pixel animations that never export right. Fuck my stupid life

I cant even make myself draw one picture, how the fuck am I going to draw dozens of pictures for an animation?
Anonymous No.7752605 [Report]
I do now, kinda. Gifs are pretty easy to get into. Hard to master though

comics are already popular, again. it's an easy way to convey a meme like short story to modern phone in the face audiences.
btw r/comics has 2.2 million weekly visitors.
compare that with /ic/ which has...uh...heh i dunno probably not much

>the best kind of art online are animations
Define "best"
>Why aren’t you animating,
Animation's another skill entirely, it's not drawing, that's why you can do it with 3D, Puppet, Cutout, rigged digital puppets, etc

OP's talking about animation like it's an extension of drawing, when in reality you could be an atelier master in drawing but a /beg/ in animation. They're not the same and there's a reason why animation schools aimed at 3D guys still take years to teach just animation with not much focus on 3D modeling, rigging, texturing, if they touch on this stuff at all. Animation isn't just movement, it's also acting, cinematography, and other stuff.
Even Proko failed animation despite studying it for 4 years in high school, so he went into Watts Atelier as a consolation prize.

This doesn't mean anything though, because his artistic skills may have been arse when he applied, or competition may have been particularly stiff that year.

Sure, but that's like saying 'high art' is popular again, because we see a lot of art in social media feeds.
Ultimately it's about money, and if they're spending it on these things.

That said, manga is doing fantastic, so "comics" are doing great, but are the manga audience going to branch out and try comics that aren't from japan?

I don't know what to tell you negroes. Are you jealous because some ultra-appeal goonerslop got algoboosted on twitter? As long as there are teenagers and TF2 players this will happen. If you're disgusted by it, as I am, then all you can do is harbor simmering resentment but ultimately accept the reality that the lowest common denominator exists for a reason, and just try to do better. Or you can join them, make your own OC (woman, long eyelashes, giant proportions) and leave your dignity at the door. Either way it's not worth worrying about.

If your not posting goon shit or memes you usually get low views on animation. My most viewed video is a meme I animated, and my most viewed/liked animation post is a furry cat woman showing her ass. I rarely do goon/meme stuff because it's not my passion so I don't get many views.
Also animation is incredibly time cosuming to learn and do. It takes you an hour to sketch, line, and color one drawing? try doing that for 6 to 60+ drawings for a single animation. During that time you could have gotten a few different drawings done.
Already learned art fundementals and want to learn animation?
Prepare to spend hundreds of hours to just barely get good enough to animate a floursack jumping up and down.

He's good enough to study on Watts Atelier which most art students quit because it's too intense but not good enough for CalArts? Lmao
>or competition may have been particularly stiff that year.
Proko's a better artist than most CalArts fags but animation is not a skill that's easy to learn unless you just wanna learn the basics with Richard Williams but then you're just a /beg/ animator which is not good enough for a top animation school.
The Animator Survival Kit is just a meme animation book by a self-taught animator that learned to animate from an old booklet, his number one tip is to just focus on drawing which is horrible advice specially if you're not a 2D trad animator.
