animate directly is just drawing frame after frame without a concrete pose you are aiming for. you just feel the motion.

yes. know more by animating more things. observe them, time them, you get a feel for how far to move lines from frame to frame. check pro animations frame by frame.

there's a limit on what you can animate without enough observation / drawing skill

funny thing about that is the human mind is designed to be unable to perceive its own action on itself as pleasurable (an adaption i assume was necessary to keep the species from going extinct from grugs all gooning instead of impregnating foids)

It takes four frames from one frame with an outstretched limb to the other frame with the other limb extended.
The head, torso and hips should move only slightly up and down, while the legs should move in small movements at the hips and knees.
Focus on the movement of the toes and heels.
Move the shoulders back and forth horizontally and swing the elbows.
The more you swing your arms from the elbows down, the more powerful it will appear.
Adding one frame of tiny movement to the frame with an outstretched limb will make the movement appear more precise.
The shoulders and legs should move in tandem, but moving the arms slightly later will make the movement more natural.
