I've been doing this shit for months.
I was only able to complete the first lesson.

I did the same, finished the first lesson, touched on textures and drifted away because I dont have anything to apply what I learned into, it helped me to do more complex exercises but my experience drawing was still the same

Im too adhd to follow a course. It feels just like I'm in school and my retarded brain doesn't want to work outside of rare productive days. It sucks because I like the subject and don't want to draw like a child anymore

i like how the course doesn't explain how to actually improve in drawing boxes
it only says to "check if lines converge" without any guide on how to fix it
>draw bad? just draw good then lol

there's literally videos showing you how to do it. Why are you just lying? Have you even actually tried to do it?

there's videos of the guy himself explaining and showing these things, and on youtube there's also some official playlist where he got some beg to live record all exercises.

Yeah it's great. The markmaking stuff is really good and how to construct. You can do it and some stuff by peter han. It is a great foundational system.

you dont need clean lines unless you are getting into scott robertson, also because of how drawing works a lot of theory is based on your own perceptions alone so you should make your own theory.
Ghostline a to b, remember grip a/b, imagine grabbing the ghosted line, start point a make sure the tip of the pen is anchored, slowly cut the paper, trust more the memory of (the grip through theline you are grabbing/tactile feel of the position ab related to your hand) than your eyes, make sure you land and anchor on b.
its a lot of bs that you dont actually need if you find that 1week of hatching practice and rotate the page does the job for 99% of times

i'm always amazed at how these kinds of things continue to get shilled just because they were basically the only free option 15 years ago.

his videos don't explain a thing. he thinks that drawing 250 boxes and checking the perspective will somehow magically give you the ability to draw them accurately next time

Shilled slop. His own artwork is just your average online artist instructors. The best way to know is to try out yourself and see if it fits with your method or not. If not, make a note of it, move on and try something else.

I used to use it as a supplement to my dynamic sketching class, mostly looking at other students and seeing how they solved things I had problems on. As a course itself, it's not bad but the Dyamic Sketches videos are available so its better to go straight to the source and use the discord for community feedbakc

What alternatives do you recommend?

Go to drawabox discord and at member bar you can see how many people fully completed all lessons. Since completing each lesson and getting it critique officially gives you like Discord award/role. Spoiler alert the ratio who finished lesson 7/8 and only those who completed lesson 1 is brutal. Prob 90-95% failure rate and it's design to be that way, since drawabox is a business (creator himself admit it) and failing students means likely repeat patreon subs.

When in doubt look at the artwork of the creator. In this case it's 2006 Blizzard fanart level, if you trust someone with that level of skill then want to put your faith into his course go ahead.
