Is it too late?
I’m 23 and I’ve got 4 months before my moms gonna force me to job hunt, was wondering if it’s worth it to start learning to draw seriously, I got a drawing tablet as a gift years ago and I just Ed started using it outta bordedom and despite my doodles of uma and dragon quest characters being shit, I had fun, like alotta fun, I started searching up fore shortening and perspective to make cool poses and angles but after realizing I spent 9 hours drawing I felt pathetic and guilty being a neet having this much fun drawing, image posted obviously isn’t mine but I love the expression and it’s made me wonder could I become that good one day? Is it too late for me to try? Does it seem pathetic? I get too anxious man

Jim Lee's praised as an artist since he's in school, picrel is his art level at 15, even him had practice 40+ hours per week during 4 months, to reach a good enough level for the capeshit industry in the late 80s, early 90s, the same era that hired Rob Liefeld and Greg Land... So unless you're uber talented, just go suck dicks in a corner, it's far more lucrative that a J*b, and you can always draw in-between your blowjob sessions.

the better question is what did you spend those 23 years on
it sounds more like you're panicking about becoming a wageslave and living a mediocre life, and trying to use art as a way out

Graduated high school, went to community college got a transfer/general education associates,at the same time I got a quickbooks cert to help find a job since money for college ran out,it didn’t help, job hunted for 3 months, car died, job hunted for anything in walking distance for 6 months, mental breakdown then suicide attempt, neeted out for a year and here we are, been in a depressed funk for a while just helping out any family member that needs muscle since working outs the only consistent thing I do but drawing for 9 hours it felt so fun but I felt so cringy and guilty afterwards, why couldn’t I have found programming or accounting this engaging

If your mother didn't put a pencil and paper in your hands before she put her tit in your mouth as a baby you'll never make it.

you feel guilt because you're aware that you need to fix your life asap
get a job, then continue drawing without guilt

What does it have to do with getting a job though? You're not going to make livable money with art in current year
Anonymous No.7771963 [Report] >>7772015
literally me, 22 rn, although getting a job isnt the end. Im having to wage slave in a shitty IT job for shit money, but I draw a few hours each night, and as much as I can over the weekend

How likely is this do yall think. Make comic thats basically a script/storyboard for a movie, and then try and get it adapted, and then bam, im in the movie industry

Yes. You're done for. Only thing you can do now is give up and fuck off.

Nope and I don't care about your shitty larp post either, time to enter the cagie wagie, even talented geniuses didn't get good in 4 months, you're delusional

Might be complicated for a huge movie, most things that ends up getting adapted are already well known comics from established authors, and we're way past the era of random comics getting a live action adaptations
You could probably aim for like a one season straight to streaming adaptation if you're a miracle worker, but even then.
Profit that you have a lot of free time to grind art, but don't think that you'll end up with a multimedia empire once you're done with that time.

Seconding this anon. Get your life together and possibly consider therapy and getting on meds for depression. drawing will still be there for you to enjoy in your free time regardless of your skill level.

Also as a commercial artist Ill say this: its a fucky time out there to try and break into the industry with AI and outsourcing. Best job security in the next 10 years is probably elderly care or skills /tradesneeded for building datacenters/powergrids.

You're right, I'll continue applying to the local gas stations and grocery stores within walking distance, to save up for a car, I hate how unwalkable american city's are, in the meantime I'll practice drawing as a hobby I have alotta fun with it maybe I'll eventually start posting online but for now I'll have fun with myself

You have nothing to lose, try literally anything. If you want to be an artist go for it.

>yessss thats right boyim don't enter my industry and compete with me, go put diapers on old people and build the AI infrastructure that makes getting into an art job even harder
You are not even trying to hide your crabbiness holy shit
