Am I the only one who wants to use less digital tools and start to use IRL mediums to paint and draw because of this whole AI stuff?

Buddy, it really doesn't matter, They took AI to a whole nother level with faking traditional drawings as well. Its either you draw or you don't.

>faking traditional drawings as well
you mean uploading a fake video or picture to make it seem legit whilst still being very obvious to someone with a brain?

I don't mean digital stuff, anon.

Says the retarded grifter that thought he could make money off making porn games with AI
lmaooooooooooooo
Stop pretending to be a real artist, cris. Just go use AI and go bother /vg/ with your new workflows and fuck off.

no. You're not the only one. As a matter of fact, the only digitalization of my art I do is me taking a pic of my stuff to post online.

that's a stupid reason to go trad. a good one is that it's a lot more fun

I’ve just always preferred pencil and paper over tablet ever since I first started. Even before AI

could it be that the digital fags are a loud minority?

I wasn't talking about digital as well.

Yeah, it really wouldn't matter anyways, Make art for you.

that's what everyone says until it becomes indistinguishable, even if we start feeding it ai poison they'll just get more careful about what they feed it. it's inevitable anon, stop coping

There are robotic arms that can just turn digital drawings into real paintings. Or you know, just print them.

Isn’t AI poison also only model-specific. It only works for post-training reinforcement learning/LORA learning.

I mean if it works for you. The benefit of that is you made a real life work of art. Ignore half the grifters on here, the “data” is only cheap imitation of what you can make.

which in the end is still just a print. you can print anything if you want, doesnt make it more than a copy.

I think the point is that it doesn't matter
"consumers" of art aren't rejecting digital art and jumping to traditional art to avoid AI
they don't care
they're not going to look at your traditional painting and like it more because they're sure it's not AI
and when they can mechanize the painting process to the point where they can mimic dynamic human like brush strokes, people won't suddenly like that art more because they're being fooled into thinking it's human
I don't think people care
we're in a weird transitory period when it comes to art
the motivation for artists to make art has always been hazy as it is. commercial art was an obvious motivation and that is 100% being affected by AI
but I never made much money from art anyway, so nothing really changed for me

Nah, people do care, at least the people who were willing to pay or looked at art before. The people who dont care are people who didnt give a fuck about art before and thought all art was just money laundering in form of tapped bananas. Graphic designers are losing jobs because their job was to make slop in the first place.
Anonymous No.7784011 [Report]
Art is like REM sleep. You wonder what the point of it is until you die from a lack of it.

I've been doing some atelier stuff because of AI. It's fun but very challenging. That being said, AI is a fucking scourge that will most likely destroy any internet spaces as we know it.
My wife was watching dog videos last night on Facebook. She showed me some and after about 3, I noticed some acting felt very stiff even for a Facebook skit.

Holy shit dude there's entire pages with extremely realistic animal videos (think house cam videos that everyone has because people nowadays film themselves 24/7 for some reason).
I think we're probably at a point where it's not gonna matter what you do, you're going to be adversely impacted by a bunch of indians making SORA videos.
Anyway gouache is cool. Bought a bunch from a store in Montreal.

Yes. Ive completely abandoned digital art except for working out compositions and whatnot. No one gives a fuck about it. Normies would rather use AI for whatever and say "they made it themselves!" Genuine, traditional art is becoming more rare and more valuable

I prefer IRL trad media, but that shit cost money. Digital shit is free and limitless. Also it's annoying to clean up oil painting stuff.

A usable watercolor brush is $40 from a mule farm in eastern europe and a roll of 100% cotton paper alone go up to $60

ill stick with a one time drawing tablet and art program complete with set of tools

Obviously not everyone cares, but more people care than you would think. Even among non-artists.

When I got Photoshop 5.5 and a bunch of random filters for it back in the late 90s, I found it amazing, but I had to figure out how to use it in my own work. Eventually I chose to use it to make comics from cobbling together panels from bits of my drawings.

You don't even need robotic arms. Just get a hobbyist cnc router and mount a pen on it. Put more effort into it by using multiple pens and colors. People would generally appreciate the efforts that goes into something so long as the finished piece looks appealing

AI may be soulless slop but it encourages me to try harder. And even though it's slop it is a formidable enemy and should not be underestimated.

>"consumers" of art aren't rejecting digital art and jumping to traditional art to avoid AI

This, a lot of traditional buyers are usually wealthier and older and they like the "boushie" aspect of art. Drinking wine and eating hors d'oeuvres at the local art galleries, art crawls and art walks. And usually from what I saw when I did participate, was usually women artists got the most attention and sales. Some men did, but they had to be extremely charismatic and/or good looking. It doesn't help too that most people don't wanna fork over $250 to $1000 dollars for a painting of the local scenery or downtown landscape. I've seen enough paintings on local coffee shop walls of artists selling their work for $250+ and the painting hanging there for MONTHS, if not years. Most want to spent maybe $20, MAYBE $50. Covid probably killed that off too, since a lot of artsy-fartsy people (if you've ever interacted with trad artists, you know who, beret wearing types who always have an apron on, and do eccentric shit, where being an artist is more an identity than it is their passion) are the ones to be extremely left leaning I've noticed. Same with the buyers, albeit the buyers are a little more grounded, but that depends too on the area and local culture. I've seen plenty of more conservative types buy too, but they've been pushed out hard in place for (lgbtq) freaks now. Since apparently only gay people create art. Also, the subject matter counts, the old saying of "cocks and bulls sell while hens and cows collect dust," although I've seen plenty of cows and hens sell as well, but rustic farm life stuff never hurts as a subject matter for traditional.

You are not alone. At this point drawing digitally is about 2 steps removed from ai anyway. Zero commitment. you can grab and adjust any element on the fly. It's whatever if you're working some soulless corpo gig, I guess, but it's quite frankly embarassing.
