Your skills didn't regress, your eye improved, letting you notice mistakes you couldn't before. You can think of it as your overall lvl VS individual skills level in a vidya game. That is why looking at old drawings hurts so bad.

I asked chatgpt and it basically said our brains are like hardrives that can hold a limited amount of data. It's constantly deleting old information that goes unused and replacing it with new ones. Keeping only what's necessary for survival. The conclusion I drew from this is that in order to keep a memory in your brain, you need to condition your brain to think that drawing is necessary for survival. You need to draw often with a purpose, not just repetition. The brain needs to feel emotionally engaged to keep those memories longer.

Practicing did not improve my art because If I can draw something, then i am not pushing the limits of what I can do, so what I'm drawing literally isn't dynamic enough. So i never actually draw anything good because I'm not going to finish an easy drawing, I'm going to add more to it to make it exceptional.
