Ever since I found out that "brush density" is CSP's version of flow, I found that having opacity set to 90-100 and brush density to 10 creates a very traditional, pencil-drawing feel. Works wonders for line drawing and it's really smooth.

Lasso Fill , been having fun making clean edged shapes with it while rendering. Beats constantly trying to clean shapes made with pen tool.

use custom keybindings, a shortcut to switch between the blending modes normal/lighter color/darker color is very handy for painting

I got CSP 1.0 EX for like $40 and it has just done everything I wanted it too. Getting the pirated versions working was just annoying for me.

Appreciate a thread like this. I'm looking for what's the best option for editing comics? I use traditional and simply use CSP for editing. I occasionally use it for animations but 90% of the time it's just for editing.

I don't see how krita could have more customizable controls considering in CSP you can rebind every single key and modifier keys too, and the 1% of things that aren't available to binded you just set up with auto actions

I dont see any of you motherfuckers talking about my homie Flat Marker. The layering you can do with this is great. You can get rendering to look like either marker like its name sake or a painterly effect easy. Plus the way its set makes it great for doing strands of hair. This shit with round brush is *chefs kiss* fucking heaven

I really enjoy the watercolor brushes and the crosshatching tools. Charcoal pencils my favorite but you can do alot with them. Ive only been drawing / using the software about a month tho so i dont really know much else

Im trying to get better at layering for different objects and colors, i find the process of learning as you go instead of watching tutorials way more fun

I own 1.6.2. Am I missing out on anything by not upgrading? I've only had specific problems trying to download and install brushes but someone told me that it should be working regardless, I thought it was because it's regular CSP not EX but that doesn't seem to be the problem either.

Nah not really. The have puppet warp but... it's not something worth to spend another $25 just for one situational feature. Especially if you already have EX. But layer comps is handy if you regularly make stuff with large variants/variations. Sucks that they paywalled that under EX tho.

Also Celsys keep releasing 'new' versions every year but only added like a few useful features and then a bunch of 3D slop, and then expecting previous perpetual users to purchase another license just for that 1-2 features. Fuck off Celsys.

With the perpetual license, you don't get any updates past the initial one X.0
The subscription model is usually better if you care for new features and shit. but If you, say, buy 3.0 perpetual pass, thats all you get. You will have to buy a license again if you want the 4.0 or whatever version they com up next, and still if you want updates you will have to sub anyway, but you already spent money on a perpetual license, so its just smarter to get the subscription from the get go.
I swear they have the most stupid subscription model ever created by human, its so bad they need flowcharts to explain it.

My CSP tip (I guess it's just a drawing software tip in general), move all your toolbars over to the right side, or left if you're lefthanded. You'll be more likely to play with all the features in an intelligent manner if your hand isn't covering your piece while you fuck with menus.
