/fig/ - Figure Illustration General
THREAD CHALLENGE - draw 100 figures before this thread falls off page 10

Figure drawing is a fun and good way to get better at drawing humans.

i only managed 20 last thread before spooktober got in the way. i shall try harder this time and looking at it logically, its ONLY like 3 figs a day till the thread dies considering how long they stay up. entirely manageable for any skill level.

ganbatte.

How smelly is a live figure drawing lesson?
Can you smell the model's fishy puss?
Or is it overwhelmed by the stench of reclusive artist's BO?

2 i was struggling with a little, but the perspective was unusual, and i think it came out okay. the hand and arm might be a bit short, but i ran out of paperspace there. 3 i'm more satisfied with, but the pose was very simple. i really enjoy hakamas design and their purpose of obfuscating leg and feet positions for fighting purposes. i think i will draw from more kendo/kenjutsu and aikido references

sports references are really fun. very wild at times. you couldve made the legs a lot stronger, they look almost comical in the reference picture, like out of a popeye cartoon! imagine that lady crushing your head with her thighs haha

Thanks. I don't think kendo gets as much visibility from spectators so it might be harder to find. I found some japanese action pose books once, I wonder if they have a kendo edition.

Here's a fun thread question: What amount of time spent per figure is best for expanding your visual library, in your opinion?
Anonymous No.7784951 [Report]
>>7784921
all the times. every time, in tandem. quick ones, mid/sketchy longer ones, highly detailed ones. you should do quick figures for warming up and then ramping up the time spent per figure.

Guys im looking for an "anatomy atlas" for artists.
-I need the "greek" proportions of everything, how many head lengths is the with of the rib cage... and so on
-i need all the masses, but not the stupid medical illustrations with skinned people. something like pic related.
-i need a high resolution, men, femoids, little humans, straight knees, bend knees, twisted arms and so on
-it must be in forms of pictures, i cant rewatch Vilppus 100h anatomy course if i forgot a little detail of the arm
- little to no text, it must be condensed to be useful
- it should have a logical structure, big masses first, details later
The last 2 points kill almost all classical books. Like Bammes is very good. But too much text, way too big and its too random legs, head, torso, face... its hard to find what you want.

Does something like this exist?
Do i have to do it myself? Searching for the best pictures in different books and put them together to compound a little body atlas?
If so, anyone interested in putting material together?

>>7785629
you should write it up yourself and draw it yourself, like a cheat-sheet type of deal. this way you'll remember it better. it's what they call studying i think. heh. just kidding, but since youre looking for something very specific, you should put it together yourself for either your own use or sharing even.
Anonymous No.7785674 [Report]

Yeah, i think i will have to do it myself. Sure, i will study it, but for the reference, originals are better, of course.
There is a guy on tube, he is making his own Anki pages out of art books. Not exactly what im looking for, but maybe i will make something similar in nature.
Anyway, i downloaded everything i could by Bammes, those are thousands of pages. I will have to evaluate the content for a couple of days, first.

When you can’t copy the ref because of skill limitations or because its so disgusting that you refuse to draw it, then you sprinkle some style on there to make it taste better.

as someone who was very fat most of my life, i understand your frustration towards it. it's harder to loose weight when doing something as taxing as drawing/art, because you will need some form of energy to keep the brain and body going.

and also props for speeding through your own challenge, your efforts are encouraging. and this black and red ink style looks mesmerizing.

Is "study core" art a thing in itself or is it a tool to achieve knowledge, to paint "real" art afterwords?

Anonymous No.7787940 [Report]

You could call it that cause I only did some minimal gesture lines to map stuff out and then drew on that without drawing the construction, though it's not just copying the silhouette if that's what you meant. Changed some stuff and exaggerated other stuff from the references, so I did have to do the construction, just in my head.
