have you met someone like this during your animation major?
Anonymous No.7784901 [Report] >>7784929
1 is gonna end up working for some obscure european animation studio and never heard from again. Will make movies with awards and critical success, but mid box office.
2 is not gonna make it. they'll go make reddit comics and rant on twitter about how nobody loves their OC. Will be giga insecure and take any feedback/criticism as a personal attack.
3 is GMI as fuck, but will probably just make his own shit in his basement and suddenly his videos on youtube will get 5 million views outta nowhere and fund his patreon.
4 will be a neet 24/7 on social media, making content about how the industry is fucked, animation majors are useless, and college a waste of money.
5 will get nepohired despite having no talent. Their entire purpose will be to make everyone else at the company feel miserable, they'll do nothing yet fall upwards into management, getting some dogshit show greenlit.
6 is just 2 who thinks they are better because they are a special unique snowflake quirky chungus, and unlike 2 they are funny (they aren't)

They won't be $100k+ in debt on a dead industry, hopefully they get a real job in the trades instead of being a filthy NEET.

Anime is massive, apparently gen z and alpha are really into animation (more so than live action), and they're wrecking the domestic industry... smart...
God forbid they try making mature work that matches anime in tone, rather than just trying to co-opt that industry (and likely ruin it too).

awesome. a bunch of maladjusted children looking to make a quick buck thinking they will be kicking back with an office wine cooler, catering from fogo de chao and diddling their coworkers.

Woe is me O poor things. the industry is how we got this cultural decline in the first place now you wanna cry and moan about an industry whose applicants far outnumber the job positions. I'm guessing your career councilers didnt teach you about JOB SECURITY in school. Not suprising they havent taught anything valuable in school in 40 years

>I'm guessing your career councilers didnt teach you about JOB SECURITY in school.
Did any school teach that? I sure as hell wasn't taught anything about save or 'secure' jobs at school.
We're also all told to follow our dreams, but very few jobs could be considered 'dream jobs', so it's hardly a wonder animation, or any creative job, is so competitive.

I don't blame them
>They grew up with anime and manga, the episodes, chapters are short like their attention spans, the plot is serialized instead of episodic, unlike cartoons and capeshit comics, they're simple to follow, and there's pretty colors and cool action.
>The guys are allowed to be cool and the women are sexy
No wonder anime is massive now, specially with Z/Alpha men/boys, they lean right but western fiction only care about the left, women.

It's funny how there's a massive shortage of animators in Japan while there's a huge surplus of them in Murica.

>It's funny how there's a massive shortage of animators in Japan while there's a huge surplus of them in Murica.
The turnover rate is apparently massive, and given how horrid the pay and conditions are, it's little wonder why that's the case.
People are quick to forget there was a charity organisation aimed at feeding and housing Japanese animators because their work conditions and so fucking terrible, and I doubt it has improved much since then.

Demon Slopper is that big because its zoomer dragonball and the fandom is literally plagued by shippers

its curious how every big anime has a huge and very active, almost overwhelming, shipping fanbase that actually doesn't give a shit about the thing itself but just make gay fanfiction about the characters
Anyone else noticed it?

how exactly does that work in japan? I've heard that animators/manga artists get the shit end of the stick since most are social rejects without other skills, but still isnt that like a bunch of other jobs too? Do they just treat tradesmen the same? I find it crazy that somehow guys like miura, who was successful in just about every metric when it comes to manga, somehow end up working themselves to death because of archaic japanese work principles, and are unable to retire.

>doesn't give a shit about the thing itself
that's normal: once the work is done there's only so much that can be discussed about it
using the characters as a framework for their own fantasy provides endless entertainment
it's the equivalent of kids taking random toys and making their own stories with them

You're talking about a medium that has featured queer shit since fucking Tezuka. Some of the most massive anime right now are explicitly geared towards a female audience. It's good to hate on Marvel for all the current day shit it keeps pushing but stop misrepresenting an entire industry to push your idiotic narrative where it doesn't belong.

It's a combination of fast growing industry and most animators quitting before their wages are the national average instead of poverty level like the guys you're talking about (animator dormitory) That's also why they're outsourcing to other countries and relying on foreign freelancers so much since 2018.
>>7785759
Most of that shipping stuff is made by teen girls and young women, the male equivalent would be powerscaling.
>>7785762
Manga artists like Miura are all extremely rich, just watch the Youtube video on the Shaman King creator made by Archipel, he's got multiple luxury cars and a big house, most rookie animators are poor tho, the star animators and directors make bank tho, they're way above national average.

I'm not a burguer lmao, I'm not even right wing either, angry people like (you) and grifters on Youtube is why the right is winning young men over, personally I don't care about either side, but that's irrelevant.
>There's "woke" anime, shoujo, josei and yaoi since Tezuka era but the popular anime now are all aimed primarily at young men like Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, they're action and the MC is a dude for a reason
I know those 3 have a fuckton of female fans, including fujoshis, but they're still (battle) shounen, their primary audience are teen boys and young men, even if they throw bones to teen girls, young women thru bishounen characters.
It's funny how I can almost sense that you're pissed, why are (you) so angry?
Your side is losing for a reason, lady, and it's your fault, woman up and do something about it before it's too late or lose all your remaining rights and become a second class citizen again.

You should disregard all the nonsense that other anon just typed.
Outside of very few obvious outliers that struck merchandising deals on a worldwide popular IP, even popular mangakas aren't making that much money.
"Star animators" aren't particularly rich either, they either get paid to work for a studio or get contracted with a fixed rate to work on certain scenes/episodes. Most of the revenue doesn't even go back to anime studios, but to the production committee that funded the project.

It has always been. Do you even know the meaning of "shonen"??

>MC is a dude for a reason
Of course its fucking shounen.

>their primary audience are teen boys and young men because it's shounen
Now he understands what shounen is.

>why the right is winning young men over, personally I don't care about either side
Says the dumb fuck who claims he's not a burger but still bases his opinions on right vs left (BLUE VS RED).

You are an idiot trying to sound smart and failing at it. Go shill anime elsewhere.

>they throw bones to teen girls, young women thru bishounen characters
>battle shounen
not bones at all, they pander to them directly via official merchandise and baiting in writing, they're very aware of their female fanbase. you can see this in some non-romantic seinen manga as well though they are not as popular as shows like my hero aot etc. the types of anime/manga that ARE actually aimed at men and have an overwhelmingly male audience are not battle shounen, it's stuff like quintessential quintuplets or girls last tour for non romance. battle shounen's primary audience is male children but the adult woman audience is definitely not small and they cater to them because the adults are the ones with money, both in Japan and worldwide. similarly little girl shows like precure have large male audiences as well, though i'd say the percentage cannot compare to the amount of women who like shounen anime, and the male audience is much smaller worldwide. they're not going to change the premises of the shows or start inserting content that seems out of place, but they'll bait for money. hell it'd make more sense to say a show like lycoreco caters to men more than battle shounen, i'm positive more men sincerely like that than they do something like my hero academia. for battle shounen it's more like men will be casual fans while women will be more hardcore. though worldwide i'd say the percentage is more split evenly

the people you meet in an art school have got to the most annoying people from /ic/. Nobody there actually wants to draw because they need a regimen to force them to study, so its a mix of howies, trendchasers, nodraws, and people who are already good technically but have no creativity and think school will teach them that. I would rather draw than interact with these people, which is ironically why I would never go to art school.

I feel like an alien when I say something like steven universe has dogshit animation and shows like Dexter's Lab beat it cleanly. And Dexter's Lab isn't even among the best animated shows of its time, its the weakest one, like Santana. For me personally, an animation should have... great ANIMATION, and not just be a slightly moving webcomic for trannies. But that's just me.

>an animation should have... great ANIMATION
Eh, I mean, sure great animation in every project would be nice, but let's be straight here, that's simply not a reasonable expectation, for budgetary reasons.

Besides, I think limited animation can be quite nice. A lot of the 'story time animation', which were originally derided as slideshows, are still more appealing for being animations than they would be if they were just someone talking in front of a webcam, or if they tried recreating the bits with live action instead.

I think drawn pictures are nicer to look at than photos, so I prefer animation, even if it's limited.
That all sad, SU fucking sucked.
