Why do so many artist online always beg for likes and followers? Getting followers and likes out of pity will fuck you over in the long run, cause all you’ve done is attract people that don’t care about your art in the first place.

I don't really think technical skills are that important, but the average art consumer is really dense. Like really fucking dense. Like Ben Garrison reader levels of dense. If you make anything that's not ground floor pop culture reference with tits and explosions bullshit literally no one will give a shit. A lot of technically skilled artists make art that's way too subtle for most people to appreciate. That's why ugly ass theme park OCs do so well.

they honestly believe they deserve more likes. meaning they are /beg/ and unaware just how /beg/ they are. An actual good artist will be experienced enough to estimate their likes and follower count to some degree, and have a plan on what to improve with their art because they have been doing it for so long.
