You’re completely right about popular things always being popular, but my problem is that a lot of artists lack the balance between the personal stuff/ studies and the recognizable, popular stuff. Like, I see doing the “boring” stuff like life drawing, fundie studying, etc. to be an avenue towards creating more interesting, appealing pieces on a larger scale. Like me personally, any creative piece I do has benefited greatly from the previous work I’ve done that was unrelated to it. It seems like a lot of artists primarily focus on what will engage their audience and not what will make them better, especially once artists have an established audience and style that is seen as appealing. I just think there should be more venturing in general
