Anonymous No.7786833 [Report]
ok now do it again and then after that do it again
you've already passed 90% of the posters on this board
just a few more doodles and you'll unironically be in the 95%

study your fundies
online tutorials or books its your pick
deviantart and other social media has some solid tutorials on specific things like how to draw sweat or a certain body type for example
most books i have read teach the fundies in a broad sense, you do not have to read them cover to cover, what i would od is skip around to where i want to study
a lot of art books can be found in pdf form online or on the panda site
here is a guide that helped me out in figuring out what to do first
eventually after you learn to self critique and raise observation skills you will be able to know what you need to practice on your own

Is this done with a computer mouse or something? Lines look weird, I'm an absolute beginner and even my lines aren't like that
>>7787510
What are good sources to learn the fundies? Drawabox ? Just look for art fundamental books that are popular and choose one?
I tried looking in beg and the new guide basically just say to do as many studies as possible and I'm kind of trying to do that with art I like

They're right, copying other peoples work is a good form of practice. The advice you get here will vary a lot, people often have the fantasy that after some arbitrary length of suffering and grinding they will "get good." Really, just try to enjoy the process and make drawing a habit. Watch videos about perspective, read anatomy books, and draw a lot, when you look back on your work you'll see improvement, it just takes time.

I know but I'm kind of frustrated that I can't do some things as well as I'd like which makes me want to work a bit more on fundamentals so I can have a better grasp at what I'm copying, currently it feels like my proportions are off and I don't really get perspective.
I'm also struggling with other things but these are probably things I could use outside resources for.
So far been trying to just draw in the evenings/nights for an hour or a bit more, copying stuff I like and if I can't or struggle to do something I just try to do it a bunch of times or ask artist friends for some pointers so that I can do it a bunch of times with a bit of assistance.

I've gotten positive feedback on what I've drawn during my studies most of the time from online friends but I feel like them being nice because they're my friends prevents them from giving me guiding pointers

Also thank you I'll look for stuff about perspective and drawing bodies on my own or ask on beg

For a more structured approach to learning, I think books are the best if you're the kind of person with the patience to work through them. I got a lot out of Figure Drawing Design and Invention by Michael Hampton. It focuses heavily on breaking down figures into 3d shapes which is one of the more useful things you can learn, and pdfs of it aren't too hard to find.

Being able to draw objects in perspective intuitively, without having to do a ton of construction will make your work look much more professional, Jung Gi was incredible at this. So when you're doing studies, focus on trying to see the depth in what your drawing, and add contour lines if it helps you.

I'll look into it, I think I might not have the eye for depth yet because I don't always have a very good sense of how the body is in the space of the drawing I'm trying to study which makes my result end up with a completely different figure... I've mostly been doing chest and up so I guess maybe it's also not enough practice too.
Will try to put some time into this figure drawing book then daily and see where it gets me.

Drawabox isn't bad but you will hate art if you keep doing this... you gonna get bored and start hating it.

Copy and draw for fun... that's all you need to do.
Im not good too but im getting at least bit better...

I haven't done it yet, I'm just a bit confused regarding where I should look for what to do next, I'll try follow the book the other anon recommended.
I am still extremely early on but I'm trying to make sure I don't go in a way that doesn't progress me much.

Progress is fine but be wary of burning out once that happen you will stop practicing and then it will take you long time to return to it. If you can practice at least an hour a day then split that hour to 40 minutes of fun and 20 mins of studies.

I don't know I'm actually kind of enjoying studies because it's art I like but actual fundamental practices seem like it might not be the most fun so I guess I'll try to do 30-40min of studying a drawing that's beyond my level and maybe 15-20min of fun and another 15-20min of practicing.
I mean so far I haven't done it long enough to say I will enjoy it longterm but maybe my autism(real) will carry it like it carried maxing my OSRS account.
