The thing from what everyone says online is native Japanese and Korean speakers are in so high demand your message is competing with hundreds of other Americans, Brits, Germans, Indians, and all of Lat Am users for your single exchange. There is just no way any Japanese person can keep up with all their DMs. Maybe you'll have luck if they just joined. But expect this to be the same on all other international exchange sites. I can confirm interpals is the same. From what I see every post is swarmed by other Japanese language learners and so are pics and their DMs. Im thinking our best bet might be to hire Japanese and expats in Japan people for convo practice

>>211747790I tried it for about a week, literally put my actual face on the profile pic.
Had a few text chats and one voice chat, all with girls. A few of them came to talk to me, but mostly the other way around. The voice chat was pretty fun, 40 minutes where we agreed we'd do half English and half Japanese, but she ended up just doing full Japanese. At one point I even asked like don't you wanna do English now and she was "nah we can just keep talking like this it's fun".
Like a day or two later I ended up making way more friends on discord and using voice chat with JP girls way more over there (pic related, time actually flew), so I ended up never touching hellotalk again.

Is it better to learn from a Japanese instructor with a one week intensive course than on my own? Itll use romaji with vocab, sentences, and grammar only since hiragana and kanji are reserved for advanced levels. Please respond, especially any Japanese friends waking up now

i used this site https://vedxyz.github.io/kana/ but there's a bunch of these that look almost identical

>爾時舍利弗 承佛威神作是念 若菩薩心淨 則佛土淨者 我世尊本爲菩薩時 意豈不淨 而是佛土 不淨若此
At that time, Sariputra, empowered by the Buddha's majesty had this thought: If a Bodhisattva's heart being pure leads to a Buddha land being pure, when our Baghavan was previously a Bodhisattva, could his thoughts not have been impure? And therefore this Buddha land is so impure as this?
>佛知其念即告之言 於意云何 日月豈不淨耶 而盲者不見
The Buddha, knowing his thoughts, then addressed him, saying: What do you think? Could the sun and moon not be impure? And therefore those who are blind do not see them?
>對曰不也世尊 是盲者過 非日月咎
He answered: Not so, Baghavan. This is the fault of the blind, and not a flaw in the sun and moon.
>舍利弗 衆生罪故 不見如來佛土嚴淨 非如來咎
Sariputra, the many beings are sinful, and therefore do not see the pure adornment of the Tathagata's Buddha land. It is no fault of the Tathagata.
>舍利弗 我此土淨 而汝不見
Sariputra, this land of mine is pure, and you do not perceive it.
>爾時螺髻梵王 語舍利弗 勿作是意 謂此佛土 以爲不淨 所以者何 我見釋迦牟尼佛土清淨 譬如自在天宮
At that time the Brahma king Śikhin spoke to Sariputra: Have not this thought, saying that you find this Buddha land impure. Why is this? I see the purity of the Buddha Sakyamuni's Buddha land, as if it were a palace in the Vasavartin heavens.
>舍利弗言 我見此土 丘陵坑坎 荊蕀沙礫 土石諸山 穢惡充滿
Sariputra spoke: I see this land's hills and pits, its thorns and rubble, its earth and stone and many mountains, and all unclean wickedness filling it.
>螺髻梵言 仁者心 有高下 不依佛慧故 見此土爲不淨耳
Brahma Śikhin spoke: Your mind has also its highs and lows, and it is only because you do not dwell in the Buddha's wisdom that you see this land as impure.
>舍利弗 菩薩於一切衆生 悉皆平等 深心清淨 依佛智慧 則能見此佛土清淨
Sariputra, a Bodhisattva is towards all beings impartial, with the depths of his mind pure; dwelling in the Buddha's wisdom, he then is able to see this Buddha land as pure.

i started with anki as some friends recommended and with hiragana
i also decided to try and write these down with correct stroke order in a notepad, it is not easy of course
and then after i am confident in hiragana, dakuten and combination i will start with katakana and its extras

>>211750621https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C5%8Dhoku_dialect
>A notable linguistic feature of the Tohoku dialect is its neutralization of the high vowels "i" and "u" (Standard [i] and [ɯᵝ]) after coronal obstruents, so that the words sushi, susu ('soot'), and shishi ('lion') are rendered homophonous, where they would have been distinct in other dialects. In light of this, Tohoku dialect is sometimes referred to as Zuzu-ben. The vowels tend to be neutralized to [ɨ] in Northern Tohoku dialect and [ɯ̈] in Southern Tohoku dialect. So after an s-sound or a t-sound, the ee-sound and ew-sound meet in the middle. Tending towards the standard ew-sound in the south.
It also seems that "si" sound and "ti" sound aren't pronounced with that high, light palatal sound ("shi" and "chi"). So all four characters are pronounced "zew"

>>211840816You could use a VPN + Killswitch if you want.
Most people that use streaming sites and such often waste tens of dollars minimum. You could have unlimited VPN with many servers and other features for a few dollars a month from ProtonVPN or Mullvad.

If you’re doing a frequency list you’ll see basically every word that you learn for the whole beginner stage fairly regularly so even if it’s not really “comprehensible” it still will be enough for you to pick out and reinforce what little you have learned; which will make your reviews much easier.

急に初めてのVN読みたくなったんンゴ(´・ω・`)
おすすめの作品があるの?
やっぱりクソ雑魚初心者だしうみねことかひぐらしなどは無理だよ
everyone just wants to hurt me
リトルバスターズとかリライトとかの古典は神ゲーなんでいつでもどうぞ
コメディー多くて読むのが遅くても飽きないだろうと思う
シスタープリンセスとかONEとかは確かルートごとに大した字数をしてないからそっちもいいかも
CHAOS;HEAD

Is he saying he shouldn't worry about their situation only or that he should... ?
From the previous sentence it seems like the former, but reading slowly makes me confused.
Basically, in my head, for it to be the latter the という is acting kind of "adverbially" to わけにはいかない or as if わけにはいかない is an element on its own, as opposed to という acting only on わけ, meaning he mustn't worry. Maybe I'm not getting something right but, can this be taken both ways or not?

If he thought the opposite, he would say
>心配すべきなのは今の俺たちの現況だけなんだよ。or the like instead.
"Aというわけにはいかない" is like a semi-set phrase used when you think something desirable A is not feasible, what you can afford to and do freely as you like, taking all the other elements into consideration.
Here
A = "That the only thing to be worried about is our current situation".
