Well, I (almost) have a masters in IR so I should know a thing or two.
I would GUESS, that Iran's population is around 70 million. About 30% of population are Azerbaijani, 50-60% are Persian and the rest are various minorities: armenians, balochi, arabs, jews, qashqai, turkmen and the others
Iran is separated from Mesopotamia by Zagros mountains in the West, it has lots of dang ol oyle in Khuzestan region which is to the West of the Zagros and that makes it strategically vulnerable (Saddam tried to take it).
What else.
They are an Islamic Republic and that is a pretty unique for of government: they have a president, a parliament, but also Rahbar who is the leader of the country and the "Council of reasonability" (Idk what's it called in English) who together hold more details facto power. Also a special religious council to elect a new ayatollah. Religious minorities are officially represented in parliament: some places are reserved for Armenian Christians, Jews, Sunnis and Zoroastrians.

Iran is the weak point in my knowledge but that's what I can tell without googling

Clearly did considering almost every person born in Tehran is a mix of two or more ethnicities. Almost every ethnic group (excluding Jews, Georgians, Baloch, Armenians, Negros and Turkmen who combined don’t make up more than 4-5% of the populace combined) are genetically very close, follow the same religion and the languages are close (even the Turkic ones incorporate lots of Persian loanwords)

Not always of course, most ethnic Russians are clearly of slavic stock, but mixed or ethnically ambiguous people raised in regular Russian environment would also be likely considered Russian

Also funny observation: my yakut friends who are fluent in yakut language never use it with us in any form, but those yakut friends who don't actually speak the language love inserting random yakut words and phrases while speaking russian

I know that some people in Afghanistan and whole Tajikistan basically speak Persian too, but it's weird kind of Persian and Iranians don't consider Tajiks as Iranians.
I also know that there "inner Azerbaijan" (like "Inner Mongolia" in China) area in Iran. And there are actually more Azeris than in Azerbaijan live.

I know a bit about landscapes. Like they have tropic rainforests in the north due to the mountains and evaporation of the Caspian sea. They also have some desert which has the absolute maximum of the temperature on the Earth.

I'm the previous anon, recently I had finals in uni, in Russia finals are not a test, they invite different professors and experts from other uni and they ask you questions and evaluate your knowledge. The head of the board was an Iran expert from the MOFA, I looked up info about him beforehand and he apparently speaks farsi and dari fluently.
And one of the questions I got was about fucking Iran and it's nuclear program. As I mentioned earlier Iran is my weak spot.

They are about 80 millions, most people are Persians (about 50%), most others are Iranian groups very similar to Persians so it's more like regional identity rather than actual ethnic groups. There's also Azeris which despite speaking Turkish are definitely Iranian.
Most people live in the north, by the Caspian Sea. A few Arabs live in the southwest next to Irak. And the people in the east beyond the deserts are basically foreign people to the Iranians and are closer to Afghans or Pakistanis.

I know that Iranians have their own version of the Arabic script and were the source of much of Islamic culture. I know that historically they've always been the literary, philosophical and artistic center of the Muslim world. I know that they were one of the few countries in the world that weren't colonized by Europeans and that also very heavily westernized in order to not be eaten by the European powers like the rest. I know that since the late 20th century they've been living in a theocracy but idk why
