These double deck pencil cases.
One kid got so jealous of another one's new pencil case that he snuck back to the classroom during recess and cut all the bands holding the pens in it.

You'd think that's the kind of thing that only happens in some boring moralizing XIXth century children's author's cautonary story, but no, that kid did it.

My brother had black hawks pencil case. I also had sharks bath towel and my brother had st louis blues bath towel. No-one loyal to any team all that mattered was to have something and if you had things from multiple you got to have more of the "cool logos"
