The UK was once like that. Nearly no crime, homogenous culturally and ethnically. It was the kind of place you could leave your bike without a chain and your door unlocked. You can even ask old silent generation people about it and they will tell you things were much different back then.

I lived in Japan for most of a year before. It's an extremely nice place to visit, but a soul crushing place to actually live, at least in Tokyo.
The work culture is murder and the wages are shit, in addition to the taxes.
It seems like things are cheap because of the conversion rates, but Japanese don't get paid that much really.
