I accidentally had downloaded some naughty stuff from limewire and our local equivalent called zmule. And mostly as a mistake because people hosting the files had compilations of vidya and music stuffed alongside their pedoshit folder so I never bothered looking through all the files and just downloaded all. There weren't any sites that isn't indexed by AoL/Yahoo/Geocities
Pokemontroons had Serebii since 1999
Before Animesuki and Gaia there was Anipike which had all of the fansites plus hentai
This shithole was mostly stuck at 1mbps-5mbps throughout the 2000s
Torrenting wasn't a thing until much later, everyone was on Limewire downloading r@ygold and other similar stuff
Yahoo, SomethingAwful and Newgrounds unironically fixed the internet
Old /v/ was into D2LOD and WC3: TFT and later DOTA while old /a/ was filled with NGE spam and Love Hina way before Lucky Star, Code Geass and TTGL newfags showed up

Our internet was slow because most of it including the 56k was routed over a thing called soviet line radio wires. See these wires atop the commieblocks with the post? Some here and elsewhere believe they were used for power transmission, they weren't, they were used for radio points basically a dedicated plug for a radio with 3 channels. After the fall of the soviet union they were repurposed for telecommunications and internet, they are still up to this day due to regulations and some legacy systems still using them for data transmission. About mid 2000's there has been a massive push for fiber optics in every commieblock so the internet speeds doubled or trippled every few years or months. I personally don't even use wired anymore because my phone 5G wifi hotspot pulls 30mb/s no problem, mad from the days of fucking 16kb/s downloads.

All my music is from Nictonine+ a client of soulseek, all my movies are from 1337x QxR + Tigole and most of the vidya is mostly gog installers or dodi and fitgirl repacks. Honestly modern vidya is shit aside from some outliers so I just load up old stuff like System Shock 2 or OG oblivion from time to time. Only worthwhile vidya is what japan releases the rest is meh or goyslop.

Nothing changed Pedonesian, cheese pizza is spammed all the time on mainstream social media. Even worse now that gooning communities encourage gooners to jerk off to increasingly fucked up material to "ruin their mind". Sick fucks like Goonclown couldn't exist in the pre-COVID Internet.

We had internet fairly early for the region, around early 90s. My family is well-off, and my dad got us dial up internet in 1995 via JARING. Even then Internet cafes sprung up like mushroom and by 1996 most uni students have an email account.
