Do you have a rare degree?
I might be the only one here with a bachelor's in railroad engineering, lol. Took me six years to finish. Honestly, it was a mistake— even marine biology would've been a better choice.

Not really but my field (marine engineering) was considered "dead" ~15 years ago. Now it's one of the better performing fields in this stagnating country. ~10 years ago when the field was starting to grow again, companies would send their delegates to universities and beg engineering students to work summers for them. I heard they got paid hefty salaries back then.

Civil Engineer here; isn't railroad engineering just a specialized offshoot of civil?
What gauge rail do you pollacks use? Is it still the standard from the Auschwitz days?

I have Master's degrees in Engineering Physics and Economics. I'm doing a PhD now. I can't tell you in what, because it's quite niche.

They have plenty of spots to build a rail. Bali for example should have had a train around the island for years already. Traffic is insane

I've been studying Surveying Engineering for almost 6 years now. I like this field because it contains geometry, statistics, geometry and programming. Most people have no idea what this job is about and it is always awkward trying to explain. In a nutshell I measure the land and make maps. I will be presenting my masters thesis in a few days. I am tired of academia. At this point I want to start working in an office or in situ and get some money to support myself and my family

There are more things to it like:
Building water infrastructure
Urban planning
Remote sensing (using satellite multi spectral images to detect land formations, my favorite)
Road building
Traffic management
Environmental Assessment Research
Land measuring
Drawing maps
Defining property lines
Etc
No person has enough patience to listen to that but even then this is a rare job in my country. Whenever I tell anyone they always seem confused. They don't seem to have ever heard of this job before.

I just don't want to be a diplomat. There's plenty of stuff you can do with IR degree besides diplomatic work. Plus I have a bachelors in international economics.
I like interacting with foreigners and ideally would like to work in some sort of international business

My masters degree was in Optics/optical engineering, I was in the PhD path but dropped out to get a job. Basically a mix of physics and electrical engineering. Only offered by maybe 20 universities here at most.

Very interesting subject with a lot of uses throughout many fields, my focus was on high powered laser science/engineering. Lasers are used throughout almost every field of science and engineering and I could’ve gotten a job at some cool national lab, ASML, university lab, or some companies

My problem was that most jobs are only on the coasts and not in the Midwest where I grew up so I left and got a job in electrical engineering in my hometown. i don’t use my brain at all in my job so kinda want to go back for a PhD in physics or optics but it would be hard to get accepted and a lot worse financially so idk…
