tons of classic neighborhoods with the colonial architecture that dumb tourists call "pueblos magicos" were razed to the ground so that the wealthy could build their big houses. san angel, polanco, narvarte, doctores, roma, tlatelolco, etc. all of these are today considered posh but they were gentrified by the rich over 50 years ago.
my neighborhood in Coyoacan was slightly de-gentrified after the 1985 earthquake but now the soulless goyblocks for the remote worker filth are going up everywhere
