They're not qualified. If they could show me God at work, e.g. God smiting a sinner, then maybe I'd take them seriously. Meanwhile scientists and engineers can demonstrate the power of their theories. E.g. if an engineer claims that petrol is combustible and that's how a car's engine works, they can show some petrol being set on fire.

Religious claims are never demonstrated, probably because religious claims are bullshit.

Here are some things that would indicate it's probably petrol:

>it's clear like petrol
>it burns like petrol
>i can put it in a petrol-powered lawnmower and the lawnmower works, without weird knocking noises, and without coloured smoke, etc
I'm sure there are more tests I could do too. Sure maybe it's not actually petrol and instead it's some weird magical fluid. It's probably petrol though, derived from oil, which comes from the ground. If oil is fake then why do businesses build tons of infrastructure in order to get oil out of the ground?

True. Fundamentally science predicts things that I can see with my own eyes, but religion doesn't. Science tells me when the ISS (International Space Station) is going to pass overhead, and you can see that with your own eyes (it looks like a star because it reflects the sun, but it moves relatively quickly). I haven't heard any other plausible explanation for why I can see the ISS. It's plausible that the ISS is indeed orbiting the Earth due to a balance between gravity (which we all feel every day) and its sideways speed (speed being another phenomenon that we can all observe).

Religion tells me that God exists, but I can't see him. It tells me that Jesus was the son of God, but there is no credible evidence for that claim. Etc.
