Tale as old as time. Meanwhile most new grads suck, and programming new grads dont even like programming they just went into it because of the "learn to code" meme.
H1Bs were around for millennial and GenX times as well. The only difference is that those generations went into it because they enjoyed it and were good at it. VS Zoomers who can barely operate a PC

Labor protectionism is cancer.

People actually think there's a fixed amount of jobs that get distributed to people, and an immigrant having a job means one less job for an American, but that isn't how the economy works.

None of you can provide a single piece of evidence that H1B visas are the cause of a tougher labor market for new grads.

I can provide a much better explanation: there's a lot of experienced while collar workers in the USA. That's why white collar hiring for new grads is still relatively tough while percentage of people employed in white collar sector has not dropped and overall unemployment is low

No one owes you a job. Jobs aren't resources that are distributed amongst the population. Jobs are you adding value to society and getting rewarded with money

Its very likely that its not about companies picking you or a foreigner, its picking a foreigner or no one at all.

Jobs aren't a resource that needs to be distributed equitably. People should be able to hire who they want

But that doesn't tell us much about the overall economy. Has outsourcing caused a contraction in demand for labor in Germany? If so, what evidence is there that this has happened?

If a company hires outside of Germany rather than within it, that is a contraction of demand for labor by itself, in the same way that buying bread from France and Spain reduces demand for bread from bread makers in Germany.
You're basically asking if enough companies are outsourcing enough for the effect to be noticeable.

Not really. We've outsourced plenty of work in USA over the years and it hasn't lead to a contraction in demand for labor in the USA. Also, immigrants increase our population.

Demand for bread is much less elastic than demand for software or data analysis or business processing or marketing or financial analysis.

People can only eat so much bread, but we can have a lot more software services than we currently have.
