that is exactly what I've been planning. I had a bad feud with both my parents due to personal reasons and thought talk to them anymore though. That means that they might not leave 100% for me even though I'm an only child, so those figures are 50% of their combined networth in my estimates, which is the minimum they are legally obliged to leave me. Put it in government bonds and crypto and I'm likely set for a simple yet self sustaining income. I'm lucky. My dad is in his 70s and was a heavy smoker but my mother is in her 60s and still a gymrat and will live for much longer. So there's a lot of uncertainty about when this money will arrive - I expect 20 to 30 years - but it's gotta be in that ballpark

Already got mine when dad passed in 2018.
>old house from 1821 in the middle of nowhere
>rusty old Volvo 245
>a bunch of ancient snowmobiles, mopeds and random machines like an old military diesel generator
>his collection of old Leijona watches
>80's furniture
>a small rowboat
>1.7 million SEK (around 150k euro I think)

Dad wasn't a spender, cared nothing for luxury. Just worked, saved and died from alcoholism at age 61.
The house was barely livable and several hours from my job so I sold it for €11k and I auctioned off all the old vehicles and stuff for like a grand in total.
I kept one of the watches for myself and sold the others for a few hundred.
Spent everything I got on a summer lake cabin (81sqm) last year.

Seems like my dad's inheritance is going to be around 200k € for me, minus whatever inheritance tax bracket it ends up in. Relevant topic for me anyway since he has suffered from an early onset alzheimer's the past few years and won't be living that much longer. When split between my sisters, we got around 4500€ each when my dad died (50% goes to his new wife and 50% to be split up to the kids) he was such a gigantic asshole that he had written a will that his new hog of a wife would get everything, even though the law is very clearly written about inheritance, so we had to take it to court and waste time because he hated us that much. 1/3 of the value of the family farm i grew up on. i have abandoned my right of inheriting it as a whole im simply not interested in farming, neither is my sister or brother. it will go to my oldest nephew and by inheritance laws he has to pay out each of us who have a claim.for it. not my older sister since its her son she just directly transfer her inheritance to him in advance. this isnt market value but a state fixed farmland value so 100k maybe? plus 1/3 of their other assets but thats mostly debt i guess.
