Japan has always been good at manipulating statistics. They inflated GDP for eight years and got caught in 2021, with the Prime Minister personally apologizing. So when they measured GDP properly, without the inflation, their GDP came out lower than Germany, which has a population of 83 million.

Emphasis on could. We never will, because our agriculture industry is completely reliant on importing Russian fertilizers. The soil in America is so reamed out from centuries of overfarming that without a constant inflex of fresh fertilizer the majority of America would be barren. Russia is by far the largest producer of fertilizer in the world. If we were to start an actual war with Russia, America (and all the countries that but our food) would starve. Let's not pretend California is not without its issues either. The homeless problem is genuinely very bad, by far the worst of any state I've visited.
